So, Ga. Govermor told restaurants they could open on Monday. Many of them said "NO THANKS".

https://www.ajc.com/entertainment/dining/restaurants-not-ready-reopen-dining-rooms-despite-kemp-ahead/hxJyJFzj7TErGkevZHE0PK/

Kemp’s sudden loosening of restrictions has left many restaurant operators questioning how, if or when they can safely reopen. Some in metro Atlanta say a Monday opening date is not feasible or prudent, while others, like Waffle House — the ubiquitous chain known for quickly reopening after disasters — are waiting for more guidance from Kemp and health officials before making a decision.

The article quotes about a doz. restaurant owners who say versions of "It's too soon, it's not safe, I'm listening to the med. experts/" I''m proud of the owners making a rational decision instead of listening to the politically based decisions of Kemp & Trump!

Many restaurants here in the Memphis region are refusing to reopen too.

Glad people are thinking &, as Madame President so wisely proclaimed, not "taking advice from a guy who looked directly at a solar eclipse."

Businesses that stay closed while they have the Governor's permission to be open may find themselves unable to access unemployment benefits (for example). The state's rationale will be that workers could be working, but because their business is staying closed when it could be open, the workers are SOL when it comes to unemployment benefits.

while working class jobs don't. So they chose to put workers in the impossible dilemma of risking death for a paycheck, when they probably won't get many customers or much revenue anyway. Landlords will still demand rent. Banks will still demand mortgage payments. But there is less income for the working people.

It's a deliberately malicious thing to do to people.

but I doubt the state has the will and establishments the desire to make it happen. Every 2nd or 3rd table. Disinfection between customers. Gloves and masks for employees. And all that still doesn't address contagious eaters breathing into the room.

The public may not accept these rapidly reopening companies. People are justifiably scared. For every goon ignoring face mask rules, and going blithely on, there are 20 terrified of the outcome. They avoid. They even avoid eye contact. No one wants to interact. The only conversation I've had was across a parking lot, 4 car lengths, with a guy who wanted to know why the store was opening late.

Review the risks with the liability experts, then make a decision whether or not to open and deciding when and how to do it safely.

The whole “Rush to Open” strategy is short term thinking. When it leads to more viral cases and more business failures - the GOP governors, Mayors, Congress Critters, and Shitler himself will gut the economy. Did I forget to mention the increased deaths?

Longer term - there is a great big election coming in about 6 months. Are these toe rags really planning on using a “Kill Grandma - Eat the Children - Burn Down Main Street” platform? Because that will be their lasting legacy.
