Mitch McConnell prefers to see states go bankrupt rather than send federal aid

Published 1 min ago on April 22, 2020
By Travis Gettys

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he would rather bankrupt states rather than send federal aid during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Kentucky Republican, whose state is among the most heavily dependent on federal aid, told talk radio host Hugh Hewitt that states should be allowed to declare bankruptcy to get out from beneath burdensome public employee pension costs, reported Bloomberg.

“I would certainly be in favor of allowing states to use the bankruptcy route,” McConnell told Hewitt. “It’s saved some cities, and there’s no good reason for it not to be available.”

Allowing states to declare bankruptcy was considered during the last recession, but drew widespread — and bipartisan — condemnation from Wall Street investors, public employee unions, governors and lawmakers.

So #Moscow Mitch your main agenda is to think of going after public employees, and the second thought coming from your treasonous simpleton corrupt mind is to pause.....................did you fucking pause when your wife was doling money in the state for political gain, and how about that Russian oligarchs money going into the state...............did you pause on that.......................fuck no.........without state and local governments, there is no country, your Federalist Society libertarian POS .................

And I feel there is a strong likelihood repukes have contrived a way to steal unused unemployment funds, so they order emplpyers to open, so those who would opt to remain safe are cut off from funds & repukes pocket the $. 🤬

Why have they not been imprisoned? 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

else knows it that has any common sense, just like what we had to do after WWII up to the Iraq war. When you starve something you can basically get whatever you want....................and then the blame game comes along to hide the BS that the libertarians have been doing since Goldwater...........as for imprisonment..............we have to vote..........and take back our local governments.............

President Dwight Eisenhower, Republican, uttered these words on November 8, 1954:

“Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.”

They didn’t like his VP, Nixon, though. Didn’t trust him, and they were right.

My parents never explained to me why they disliked Nixon so much, back to the 50’s and beyond, but this probably played a role:

... didn’t like that speech.

Edit: I’m surprised my parents still voted for Ike. They told me when I asked them as a youngster, “Have you EVER voted for a Republican?” They both nonchalantly mentioned Eisenhower as the exception.

... your mother saw that speech.

My parents never explained their old hatred of Nixon to me, just that they despised and didn’t trust him even before he was VP for Eisenhower.

The Watergate scandal didn’t surprise them very much, according to them.

I was born when they were in their 40’s (one sister is 21 years older than me), so I wasn’t quite old enough to remember Watergate as it played out. Heard about it a lot later, or I probably started paying more attention by the mid-70’s when Nixon had already resigned.

Edit: I also recall my Dad saying that the country had basically voted for “John Wayne” in 1980, so disgusted by it.

State workers are paid low wages when compared with the state's competition. The state makes up for that disparity by offering a retirement plan. It is understood up front. To have some people work a full career and then have their retirement taken away would be a crime of the first order. If states, or the Federal Government can't keep its word to its people than they no longer have any legitimacy.

These representatives of big money running our country have to go. McConnell needs to lose more than an election. He should be stripped of all wealth and put in the streets.

If you all will make me king of the world for a few months, I will make it happen. My campaign motto will be a politician for every lamp post. We could use them for macabre Christmas decorations. Heck, I would make Vlad proud!
