OP has been updated with the link.

(31,261 posts)It would be very nice if such posts had more context and framing so that other people, who were doing other things, would easily get the gist of the post.
Yavin4
(35,357 posts)Also, YouTube carries it live. Do you really need a link for everything?
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)After I got through with that, I fixed a meal. I have not read or watched anything today before I came to DU. So, yes, a link from you or at least more reference to exactly what you were writing about would have helped.
If you are going to start a thread that a lot of people will read, you have an obligation to provide more context, IMO. Having said that, the thread has turned out pretty good, some responders provided more context and I got a good idea of the situation and even responded to some posts.
This isn't an attack on you, I just get really frustrated when people assume that everyone have seen something or are thinking about a particular subject and put up low context OPs.

(35,357 posts)These are standing press conferences. At this point, everyone should be aware of them.

(31,261 posts)I haven't even watched the Florida one. I quick read news feeds when I use my phone for something, and of course, I rely on DU for news and insight, I am typically on DU each night and occasionally days like today, where I have free time.

(4,379 posts)Turtle face has to go. He has damaged America and he has been Trumps enabler. People of Kentucky, pull your heads out of your ass and vote that mother fucker out of office.

(12,305 posts)About time we had somebody do this. He pointed out that NY puts in more than a 100 billion in the federal pot than it takes out while Kentucky takes out more than 100 billion than it puts in so it's Kentucky not NY that is getting bailouts!
Yes yes yes!!!!.

(46,166 posts)Kentucky takes out way more than it puts into the federal pot.
Cuomo just asked, "Senator McConnell, who is getting bailed out here?"

(24,378 posts)as opposed to NY, which is a donor state.
Says KY takes out $148-billion more in Fed $ each year than they put in.
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)I would love to see the Governors of California, New Jersey, Massachusetts do the same thing.

(24,378 posts)We basically get back $12 more per capita than we send to the Feds.
Compare that to KY which get $9,145 per capita more than they send to the Feds.

(31,261 posts)but that is the point of a federalist system, wealthy states like California over contribute when things are going smooth for them, and they rightfully expect help when nature throws them a curveball.
The prevailing opinion of red state Congresspeople seems to be that their pepetual beggar status is ok, but when a blue state faces a crisis that is larger than it's resources, that is a crime and blue states should be denied funds.
What MConnell is ignoring is that covid19 is spreading in red states and once it reaches a certain level, will hammer those states severely. Then McConnell will be leading the charge for federal help. Trump, McConnell, Paul Ryan, the vast majority of republicans in Washington have openly declared war of blue states, it is an enraging behavior that shows no respect for the Constitution.

(4,919 posts)Talking about "his state is living off the money generated by NY tax revenue"
NY contributes more than it gets back, while KY takes much more than it contributes. Very concise explanation how blue states subsidize red states.

(302 posts)...contributes more money to the feds than they take out, while Kentucky (like most red states) is a taker.

(4,379 posts)Republicans have been allowed to twist the truth far too long. The democratic states take care of the Republican welfare states.
Fuck Trump. Fuck Republicans.

(35,357 posts)I see blue states withholding federal tax dollars if Mitch doesn't help out the states.

(25,896 posts)Thanks for posting a link to the vid, Yavin!
Starts with: We need money for police and fire and teachers and schools and other health emergency people. How do you not fund these things in the middle of a pandemic? If you don't fund the state, the state can't fund these services. How can states plan to reopen when they can't fund these basic services? How can you talk about national economic recovery while telling states to declare bankruptcy?
Then he blasts the partisanship and pettiness of senators (Mitch) saying not to fund blue states. Go listen - his comments are so amazing. He manages to rip Mitch a new one and be uniter not a divider at the same time.
It's really well done.
