Geez Louise at the carping that Biden needs to do something "NOW"

There is no urgency for Biden to release any strategy or tactics for the COVID-19 crisis at this point. Sure he assembled a team to look at the situation but they aren't empowered to do anything right now.

Practically, tipping his hand at this point makes no difference in governmental actions. Politically, it gives his respondents more than half the year to shred or hamstring any released plans.

The Democratic National Convention won't be for another three and a half months. Between then and the general election another seven months from now, we'll see what arises with an expected resurgence of the disease in autumn.

Everyone needs to remember life from decades ago, before we became so attuned to immediate gratification.

He should keep his powder dry and not be perceived as a political opportunist. Those Democrats who are accountable need to take the lead. Biden should listen to them and if course form his own strategy team.

Forget about strategy teams. We don't have time. People are dying right now. Our nation is disintegrating as each day passes. Passive leadership is simply going to give Trump unchallenged ability to keep fucking up.

It's true that the federal response to this crisis is deeply flawed. However, one guaranteed way to make things even worse is to have a political candidate run around interfering with the federal agencies, contradicting official policies, etc.

I think Biden is doing what he can.

What im saying is Biden is a CANDIDATE now, not yet POTUS so he has no real power. He's already come out with a plan to curb covid spread and have held virtual townhalls, etc. He said he's consulting with virology experts, business leaders &others daily. Bottom line there's been a number of activities done & in progress. BUT other than anticipating a win in november right now & speaking out what else can he do? He has neither the power nor federal resources to launch any national initiatives. We have only 1 president at a time, mind you.

Maybe you have been polled?
I know no one who has been polled
I think the same people get polled.

Trump is on the edge of losing WI
OH and PA.

Every time dump opens his mouth Cuomo fills it for him. So much so, that someone has made the move to get Cuomo as President or VP. Neither will happen in 2020. It’s just a panic move on some groups part. Whitmer disgraces him every time she speaks.

The anti- human protests are a flub.

40% is a loser. As it gets closer and trump fails many of those 40% probably won’t vote.

As the medical bills roll in, trump will want to help less. Already they are fighting UC in Fla.

As the stimulus fails to reach people, more will be sure to vote.

538 means nothing to me. But they like folks quoting them and relying on it. It’s just opinion. 538 wants to make the news everyday, too. Worth to me as much as any poll. What about national poll this week that says Biden 60-40? I don’t believe in those either.
However, polls say Biden is leading.

Finally, mostly I think the right side of history will win.

Trump is hanging himself with his own stupidity and incompetence. The best thing Biden can do is let him proceed with that, without any interference. Inserting himself into the matter right now would only give Trump a distraction. All he really needs to do is keep reminding people that he helped assemble the pandemic response team that Trump dismantled.

What the hell is he supposed to do that he isn't already doing???? He is not an elected official, medical staff, or anything else that is in any position that can help dying people. Is he supposed to go to the networks, hold a gun to their heads, and force them to give him air time? Because that's his only option now, other than going out on social media--which he is already doing. Throwing a tantrum to get attention is not going to help him or dying people. What is he supposed to do?

from Chinese Nationals at a reasonable time (albeit that thousand flooded in and still do by tricking the system with multiple legs)...and zing him ( actually think it was Bolton) that the dismantled p team, would have had a single goal, avoiding and preparing for a pandemic. Lives would have been saved.

This is a favorite go-to tactic for right-wingers - here and in other countries as well:

If facing a crisis (particularly one of at least partly your own making) during an election year, pretend your opponent is the president - and shamelessly wonder out loud "why he won't do something!"

The best scientists are working around the clock to develop better tests, therapies, and vaccines. They're sharing information with one another to learn more about the virus and how to defeat it.

The heads of federal agencies are in meetings with Trump and one another. There's no role for a political candidate to participate in Trump's administration.

take a strong, vocal leadership role as the presumptive leader of our party.... I thought this would happen when Sanders ceded. It doesn’t look like orange demon’s support is cratering even though his control of the narrative is half insane and his gross mismanagement is transparent.

This is the only time I’ve posted this, but it’s how I’ve been feeling. Longing for his voice in the public dialogue.
