...and the de facto re-enslavement of black Americans, and how the South conned the North into thinking that somehow, secession *wasn't* about defending slavery. How the North threw away the victory, and acquiesced in racism for nearly a century. It ends any notion that society can't regress, or that progress is inevitable...
