there will be a certain segment of the population remaining anti-vaccine and won't submit themselves and will remain either victims or carriers.
What to do about them?

(17,606 posts)..isolated anyway. Im waaaaay out in the boonies and retired and have no need to go into town except to stock up on supplies. But this year I am also getting my very first flu shot ever because if/when I get sick I want them to be able to rule out the flu right away....Dr Fauci convinced me.

If it comes out after a few months of Joe's admin, I'll be first in line.

(12,963 posts)It cuts down the numbers, which is all that herd immunity is about anyway. The adults are hopeless unless we end up in an 'immunity passport" situation, which is still unlikely.

Here in IL, religious belief is an allowed reason for a kid to be unvaccinated & still be allowed in school.
The school needs a parent signed form in the student's file, but that isn't really stopping spread. Just a legal formality.
Any parent could just lie about their reason being religion.
My opinion is no VAX, no school. Parent needs to handle it some way else.
But, my opinion was not shared by the lawmakers.

But, not yet and we're dark blue here. (Well, not south of Bloomington. But soybeans don't vote)

(32,596 posts)Typically a vaccine is only effective against one strain of the virus, not all of them. That's why flu shots are only partially effective and only for one season. By the next season the flu virus has already mutated and the shot you got last year doesn't work against the new strain.
The anti-vaxxers will take care of their own problem because they'll be dying out rather quickly.

(24,259 posts)take it but there will be those who can't (due to allergies, etc) so while I'm hoping that a vax is discovered and becomes available for a sliding scale fee/free, it's also very important that we have an efficient & affordable treatment available.

(745 posts)Af least that's the best guess right now. We will probably know better by the time the vaccine is there but it should be in that range. Anti vaxxers dont make up 30% luckily.
