Assuming the last figure of Monday evening, confirmed cases US, 987,367.
The first figure of the morning I had, at 9:29am, was 975,006. An arbitrary start of the day, since we slept in.
If you subtract that figure, 975,006 from the last such stat of the evening, 987,367, the difference is 12,361.
Okay, then, using that number (12,361) as the day's increase, seems to me you can make a somewhat educated guess based on that. Assuming we'd see the same increase in Tuesday's numbers, you'd add that number (12,361) to Monday's final figure (987,367), and get 999,728. Which is only 272 less than a million.
Therefore, based on this set of calculations, we're likely to reach a million confirmed COVID-19 cases sometime Tuesday, late in the day.
Judging on the rate of increase, I wouldn't expect it to take Wednesday to reach that dismal milestone.
Tomorrow will tell.
