GA: Men poisoned after drinking bleach

Two people in Georgia drank liquid cleaning products over the weekend in misguided attempts to ward off COVID-19, according to the Georgia Poison Center. Both men had histories of psychiatric problems and are expected to recover.

On Saturday, he said, a man in his 50s living southwest of Atlanta was hospitalized after drinking several ounces of bleach “to prevent Covid.” He was moved to a psychiatric ward before being discharged.

On Sunday, a man in his 30s who lives in the Atlanta area ingested a mixture of Pine-Sol, mouthwash, beer and pain medications. He also has since been discharged.

17. This is the disgusting thing about tRump's off the cuff remarks about treatments for Covid-19.

There are plenty of people who through no fault of their own may do really dangerous or illogical things to fight off the virus. He is an authority figure and with that comes the need to use restraint and measured words so that things he says are not misconstrued. He fails to recognize this so he babbles whatever ideas that flit through his mind. He really should be called out when stories come out about people drinking bleach or other cleaning products. Do not let him off the hook with some vague answer about not having heard of the cases.

These people are not well mentally. They did not ask to be that way any more than they choose cancer or heart disease. So they need to be protected from tRump. I hope the journalists will continue to confront him when stories like this come out. If nothing else, it reinforces to people watching the news that tRump is responsible for confusing vulnerable people. But he refuses to accept his role in that confusion or misinformation.
