"SNIP.....
President Trump indicated he wouldnt allow federal aid for states facing budget deficits from the coronavirus outbreak unless they take action against sanctuary cities municipalities that prevent their police from cooperating with immigration authorities, Bloomberg reports.
Said Trump: We would want certain things including sanctuary city adjustments, because we have so many people in sanctuary cities. Whats happening is people are being protected that shouldnt be protected and a lot of bad things are happening with sanctuary cities.

(51,569 posts)as a response. I am sure CA's and NY's contribution to the Fed piggy bank is pretty substantial. Cuomo already said blue states pay more than their fair share to cover states like KY.

Sounds to me like more Quid Pro Quo. I am pretty sure we already impeached him for that. Yet here he is threatening aid to US/Blue States and condemning many of us to die.

(16,850 posts)I can't remember which constitutional scholar brought it up but basically she said, "if this act is ignored, what would prevent the president from a similar act of 'quid pro quo' when dealing with states during a disaster." Well, here we are!

(83,667 posts)We have an R Governor.
He stood up to Don about sanctuary cities in the past. He closed the state to late, yet I will give credit where credit is due. He has not thrown us to the wolves yet. He is not opening as we are in critical condition right now. Schools are closed for this year. He has openly dissed Don for seizing much needed PPE.
I will wait for what he does next.

(16,850 posts)As bad as having a GOP gov, at least Baker is a more "traditional" conservative. I so miss living in New England. Moving back home to my home state has been good in many ways, living in a purple dot in a red state under Bill Lee, a Trumpian moron, as governor has been trying.

Charlie is okay for the most part, at least in this crisis.

(16,850 posts)Is that our federal government is not a business. He doesn't own those federal dollars, the American people do! When will he be held accountable for these mafia boss, quid pro quo actions? I pray he will come November but damn, thats a long way away.
