Mail in election today. And masks were mandatory in his reopening announcement yesterday. He is reopening in steps.

He may be a Republican I disagree with on many things but on the pandemic he is doing a fine job following the doctors advice. Masks are important.

The story I read was about people who have problems wearing masks for various reasons. One was an autistic child, others had breathing problems. I wear mine, but it is not easy.

Clerks have to wear them all day. I think Mike is just making exceptions.

Not sure what a wealthy Donors has to do with this. Maybe I missed something.

Masks will be strongy recommended, but not required - per todays' press conference. Both in response to reasonably exceptions - but also in response to complaints that requiring masks was offensive.

I've been a big cheerleader for DeWine on this issue - but I think this is a boneheaded move.

So can not say, but maybe he had enough reasons.

That does not negate the good work he has done on handling the shut down.

My Son went to Kroger’s because his store had been out of chicken for 2 weeks. Mine had plenty. He said half the shoppers did not have masks on.

Legitimate concerns (such as autism and he didn't mention it - but it is also an issue for hearing impaired people).

But the first reason he gave was that people found it offensive.

Part of the challenge is that DeWine bought the early line that masks were not effective. Now that they acknowledge they were really trying to preserve masks for those most impacted, they are less believable when they say masks are effective at reducing risk. Some very vocal people are tired of being restricted, and that - coupled with the early misstep about masks not being effective - convinced them (my opinion here) that they would lose the fight to keep people masked so they were better off just strongly recommending it and hoping for the best.

I agree it doesn't wipe out all of the good he has done. But it is still disappointing.

I'm sure there's been pressure on him, especially since he's gone his own way on this and kept his head down all along. Notice Pence didn't wear a mask at Mayo Clinic, either - I think they think it reminds people there's a plague among us, so if people wear masks, they think about it all the time. It's irresponsible and misguided, but I guess I'm not surprised - as another commenter noted, even Republicans who start to do the right thing can't ever finish it. They cave to pressure from somebody or other before they see it through.

get good testing. You have to have at least two symptoms.
Yet complaining about asymptomatic populace.
Until we have adequate testing....masks should be a must!
I’d like to ask Dewine questions!

BTW, here's DeWine from YESTERDAY:

Not wearing face masks would be negligent and a mistake, Gov. Mike DeWine said Monday as he unveiled plans to reopen the state.
