"I am not f---ing losing to Joe Biden," Trump said

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump erupted at his top political advisers last week when they presented him with worrisome polling data that showed his support eroding in a series of battleground states as his response to the coronavirus comes under criticism.

Trump reacted with defiance, incredulous that he could be losing to someone he viewed as a weak candidate.

“I am not f—-ing losing to Joe Biden,” he repeated in a series of heated conference calls with his top campaign officials, according to five people with knowledge of the conversations. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about private discussions.

The message to the president was sobering: Trump was trailing the former Democratic vice president in many key battleground states, he was told, and would have lost the Electoral College if the election had been held earlier this month.

On the line from the White House, Trump snapped at the state of his polling during a series of calls with campaign manager Brad Parscale, who called in from Florida; RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, on the line from her home in Michigan; senior adviser Jared Kushner; and other aides.

Trump and Putin will do what ever is necessary to keep Trump in office. I am not counting Trump out until after November.

I put nothing past the dynamic duo. Trump's best tactic would be to eliminate Biden as a viable candidate in the late Fall. There are may ways they can do that, but the safest would be a full-scale attack on Biden's character. It is so easy to plant stories and it is nearly impossible to prove that you did not do something. If the attack comes late in the campaign there may not be time to disprove the allegations until after the elections.

It worked against Ms. Clinton.

It is all about timing.

He's calling a VP in a competent administration a "weak" candidate? Because Biden doesn't bloviate and lie to deceive morans?

That's red don's criterion for being a "strong" candidate--being the best at conning idiots.

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows an experienced, competent government official like Biden is light years ahead of a crazy conman.

as dangerous as KKKarl and ATWATER. Normal people would think not to antagonize or discard a main player, but SHITLER's
whole m.o. has been counter intuitive, lashing out at entire voting blocs instead of courting them. Plus all the flying monkeys who want to be in his circle, whom he has humiliated and ditched. So here he is whipping a key and effective cog in his machine. This PARSCALE a-hole is smart and personally tanked up with self-esteem, making it incomprehensible that he would put up with this, but then why did he sign up in the first place, because there's no way he didn't know what he was getting into. And just the usual Greed answer doesn't fit in the end when the subject is a high powered, self-empowered person.

It's a double edge deal - how does SHITLER think alienating voters and hired Help is a good strategy and how does PARSCALE think it's worth it for himself?

Thu Apr 30, 2020, 05:30 AM
Apr 2020

1. Joe Biden will likely be the democratic nominee, not Hillary.
2. Hillary, like it or not, generated a certain animus. There were people voting for Trump just b/c they didn't like Hillary in 2016 for different reasons (e.g., being a woman, the "E-mails", Comey, etc.)
3. Third party candidates like Jill Stein took away votes from Hillary. If Amash runs, likely he would divert votes from Trump, not Biden.
4. Putin and Russia got a free shot in 2016 b/c we weren't expecting them to interfere with the general election. We're more than expecting it this year.
5. Trump was a virtual unknown candidate with only television and celebrity to propel him to become the republican nominee and the winner (allegedly) of the Electoral College. We have quite a resume/dossier on him now. He can't run away from his record.
6. There is a pandemic that is causing personal and economic crises across the country. There is a general feeling of "Try someone else. Anyone else."
7. And from a selling the product/advertising point of view, a lot of people just don't like Trump. That's different.
