donnie's covid19 response falls flat like sending wwe wrestlers on a spy mission.
while i have consistently underestimated the persistent success of donnie's blatantly obvious con game propaganda, i think the severity of the current crisis has the potential to be the backdrop that wakes people up.
everybody knows wwe is "fake" wrestling. it's blatantly obvious that these are stunt men and women. they may be strong and well-trained, but the actions are blatantly scripted and cooperative, not competitive. there's no way seriously competitive wrestlers would turn their backs on their opponents in order to flex their muscles and roar to the crowd, allowing the opponent to bash them over the head with a chair.
but the fun (i guess) in wwe culture is going along with the joke, pretending at every turn that it's completely serious and real, and watching cynics helplessly fail at convincing "true believers" otherwise.
now, this is all well and good entertainment when it's all for show. but if a real military mission is required, sending these stunt men and women in, and telling them to do the exact same moves they practice in the wwe ring, that's just nuts.
can you imagine wwe wrestlers going in to bin laden's compound to try to take him down? expecting him to turn around so they can bash him over the head with a chair?
this is what donnie and the gang are doing. many of his supporters and the media are hardcore and will continue to believe and push absolutely anything. but i do think -- well, hope -- that some of his supporters and some in the media are still reachable, and will see this as a time when we can't afford to joke around.
donnie and the gang only know one game, which is to continue the con. continue to try to propagandize their way out of the crisis.
hopefully, people recognize that they can't bully or persuade or bamboozle or con a virus.
