Talked to Trump supporter yesterday. Looks like No school No Open even with their twisted logic.
This person basically repeating Tucker Carlson logic for 90% of the time even their thinking couldn't get around getting kids back to school.
I didn't talk much, I usually just ask a couple of pointed questions that have been home runs in a rational persons mind that either gets the mind spinning or questioning MAGA Media thoughts.
One of them in this context is would you send your children back to school now
This persons answer is hell no because the kids are going to bring the virus home to the parents.
That then got this persons mind going in regards to how the economy was going to open and then you can see the gerbil racing in the wheel.
Anyone else know any reasonable MAGA's willing to send their kids back to school without testing?
Seems like a deal breaker for most of them

They have been conditioned to repeat talking points but NOT think.

(13,889 posts)are desperate for physical contact. And, have you ever tried to get a child not to touch his/her face? So, think of the child who brings the virus home, infects Grandma and spends the rest of his/her life trying to deal with the guilt if Grandma dies. This is unthinkable, even to some MAGA's...except to their boss who is just thrilled with the idea.

(58,647 posts)you can't send people back to work unless the schools are open to take care of the kids.

(11,986 posts)In many cases, re-opening a business may not require re-employing everyone simultaneously. For example, a restaurant whose capacity is limited to 25% or 50% of normal may initially only hire back 25% or 50% of its service staff. This may well allow them to first hire back those employees with either no young kids, or where there may still be a partner at home to watch them.

(4,236 posts)It's great to say, "Open em up!", but what if you don't have workers? Put my students back in my class with whatever guidelines you want. Ignore the fact that kids won't be able to follow them, but we're already in la-la land, so roll with it. What happens when me or my fellow teachers start going down with CV19? Who's going to teach?
As much as I love Westworld, we don't have hosts yet. How do you "make" people work in this country under these circumstances? You can try to keep kicking them like they're doing in Iowa, but reality has a well-known liberal bias, as the saying goes, so good luck with that. Your "alternative facts" are in for a rude fucking awakening.
