(15,596 posts)There is no one on earth who bears the last name Hitler (its an interesting story, with a Netflix documentary even), and Trumps name should suffer the same fate.
Ivanka should use Kushners name, Eric and Junior should use their mothers maiden name, and Melania will almost certainly divorce him next year. His named properties will be repossessed or rebranded (this has already happened in a few places), removing his name from the buildings. The public shaming and anger will be so intense that his name will be synonymous with failure and death, and will be so toxic no one will offer him a dime. He wont be able to get any start up money for the TRUMP TV network he was planning when he ran in 2016. The best he could hope for is a You Tube channel. Hopefully, he will be in prison soon after leaving office.

(18,470 posts)But I wish we could all find another name for the most powerful suite in that game - which is currently called trump.
The Kluxers and Nazis who play will never change it when playing but there's gotta be something else decent people can use instead.

We have a ball playing this way. Whoever accidentally uses the other word makes the fridge run for beers.

(18,470 posts)Kozer is one of the Polish words for that word in card games. I think that would be easier to say and a bit more family friendly. We can still require people to make beer runs when they use the other word.

(41,131 posts)think it. Our democracy has taken a beating for 40 years at least and has the scars to prove it.
We're in an ugly, dangerous era and efforts to turn it around will have to be enormous.
Hope and faith.

(13,860 posts)I think too many believe it's all about Trump and ignore the powerful forces backing him behind the scenes. The Koch brothers and their ilk of oligarchs aren't going to disappear when Trump goes, they will have a new oligarchic leader waiting in the wings to take his place. I think too many Americans on both sides of the aisle are more than willing to vote for an oligarch (look at the support Bloomberg, a former Bush/Cheney Republican received simply because he was perceived to be better than Trump). I agree about the 40 years, Reagan was the beginning of this bullshit and the people fell for it.

(41,131 posts)not the vast infrastructure established through libertarians and extremists like the Ks and others. Also the US media is a huge factor since deregulation in 1986.
The many think tanks that were set up since the 1980s have enormous power and influence and that's not going away, for a while.
The oligarchs are coming with Bloomberg and before him David Koch, Malcolm Forbes maybe others. Worship of money has been the credo here for too many years and all of this is the result.
Over the last four decades the GOP keeps morphing and pulling the country into a more ugly hole.
Spent the 90s doing nothing other than trying to bring down Clinton, with their poll tested talking points.
Then, spent the first decade of this century using 9-11 to bully their way around.
Then, after BHO got elected just woke every morning and got on the same page to blame the worst thing going on BHO.
THEN, elected a raging sociopath POTUS.
There is not going to be some great enlightenment.
I mean, my feed is fully of right wingers forwarding pity party posts about how no POTUS has been treated worse than this asshole and bizarre conspiracy related to covid 19 that always end up with democrats and George Soros at the heart of it.

(90,660 posts)But do I ever want to see the day Trump dies in his bunker.
best case scenario is Joe wins and 45 actually leaves office.
No sure bet on either of those.
He WILL continue to own the republican party and reek havoc, and the loons in congress will continue what they did to BHO - literally not work on anything with POTUS Biden.
The country will do what it has done repeatedly, when it gave power to the Rs in wave in 94, steadily gave the GOP power in state houses and governorships, then again in BHO's first mid term putting in a tea party loons in mass because THEIR version of health care reform was passed without a single one of them voting for it ...
They will scream like lunatics and regain power much sooner than anyone could possibly believe.
This country ALWAYS indulges right wing lunacy. See, armored thugs waltzing into state houses.

(251 posts)Its no coincidence the last two GOP presidents have gotten the country near destruction. Bush in 2008 and Trump now.
The next GOP president, if not this one, still, may bring the country down for good
Trump is so bad he can destroy the country in the few months hes got
