certainly keep people away from you. Nobody wants to get anywhere near those assholes, except other assholes.

Masks are simpler, cheaper, and more effective, though.

must be a very fearful person indeed - either that or they are expecting to encounter terrorists in the produce section and hope to be hailed as a hero for splattering the bad guys' innards all over the cantaloupes.

I have never in my life been afraid to go shopping unarmed, and I totally fail to see the logic of bringing firearms to a protest against state-directed pandemic safety measures.

I think Minnesota's open carry rules don't encourage such behavior in places like stores. Occasionally, I encounter someone who is carrying a concealed weapon. Poorly concealed, at that, or I wouldn't notice.

but they seem to be fairly common in some other states. Living as I do in the People's Republic of Minneapolis I doubt if I would ever see someone do that. I just don't get the notion that some people have that you have to bring a gun with you wherever you go; I suspect that some of it is just showing off.

It appears that you have to have a Concealed Carry permit to carry openly, and it's very easy to prohibit firearms in buildings. That's probably why we don't see it happening much in our state. That and urban Minnesota's general sensibilities about such things. Like you, I've never seen anyone carrying openly here other than LEOs.

Not because of the virus. Odds are they aren't even from Michigan.
