A strange, unnerving thing started to happen sometime last week: Some of us got a little lazy about

I can feel it --the staying home--is wearing on me. esp with the nice weather the last few days.
But WI is still on mostly lockdown until may 26. Although I noticed the garden center in the next town was open.

Yes, We All Have Quarantine Fatigue. No, That Doesn't Mean You Can Go Out.

A strange, unnerving thing started to happen sometime last week: Some of us got a little lazy about the whole social distancing thing to slow the spread of coronavirus.

Hop onto your Instagram and you might even see people boldly posting about their ventures outside their home: a pool party here with a “close circle” of friends, a smallish birthday party there with people from different homes. (“Don’t worry, we’re keeping 6 feet apart!”)

You see it on a larger scale in the news: In New York last weekend, sunny weather led people to flock to parks. (As of last week, residents of New York City have submitted 14,000 complaints to the police about people violating social distancing rules.)

In Southern California, thousands hit the beaches in Orange County, seeking relief from a heatwave that hit just in time for the weekend. (Gov. Gavin Newsom has ordered all Orange County beaches closed this weekend, calling it a “temporary pause.”)

Clearly, “quarantine fatigue” is starting to kick in.

“You see it on your social media feed. You see it in your neighborhoods with traffic. I live on a main road, and foot, bike, car and especially motorcycle traffic increase incredibly on nice days,”
Owens told HuffPost.

After about six weeks of social distancing in some states, we’re all getting a little stir crazy ― especially those who were wary of the social distancing guidelines from the beginning.

“People were having trouble with physical distancing when the guidelines were strict,” he added. “It’s unlikely that loosening those restrictions in some states will lead to responsible behavior.”

A combination of factors ― warm weather, stay-at-home restrictions that have dragged on longer than anticipated and seeing other states move to reopen ― has led to Americans going outside more frequently and traveling longer distances, according to research out of the University of Maryland.

Using cellphone location data, researchers noted the change in behavior in the past two weeks in all but three states.

And in a Gallup poll conducted the week of April 20, 59% of respondents said they had practiced social distancing in the previous 24 hours. That was down from 65% in the week of April 6..

So the people who got fatigued or bored after four weeks, you just hit the reset button for all of us. Thanks a fucking heap. This would have been far less likely with a coherent, consistent message from our nation's leaders, but instead we got Commander Scattershot saying whatever stupid thing popped into his mind. People heard what they wanted to hear, like children, and decided on their own that the time for countermeasures was over. The nincompoops are really only a small percentage of the population, but they got fawning, uncritical coverage in a lot of media outlets, giving them far more credence and the appearance of wider influence than they ever should have gotten.

There are no shortcuts. We won't have a cure tomorrow. Grow up.

Surprised me because she is quite proud of her intellectual faculties, and very protective of her family.

Folk are letting their emotions get the best of them.

Justify second.

Analyze, revise, and compensate third.

The second doesn't always happen.

Without the second, the third can't happen. And unless there's sufficient grounds for telling ourselves we're wrong and screwed up, the third won't happen.

Most people don't like saying they screwed up unless it's butt-obvious and not admitting it would bring on public shaming.

My mind does acrobatics.

I wonder:
How long will my hair get?
When will my medical appointments resume?
Where in the hell did all my birds go?
How low will I sink in my TV viewing?
Why does my computer modem take unscheduled vacations (without permission)?

It's just scary that I am watching them. I know there are probably people who are watching things that I like but they usually wouldn't touch them.

I haven't watched FUX news yet so I am safe still. I mean, yeah, I am like some of us and do a moment or two every blue moon to see what they are puking out but it is not anywhere close to a regular tune in.

Otherwise, I ignore the crap when it's playing in some waiting room.

I wouldn't use FOX as a nightlight.

I have been going out more. The reason for that is helping my 80 year old mother with a serious heart condition. I now do everything for her. She orders her groceries and I pick them up. If she needs her meds ( which does not always coincide with groceries) I pick them up. If she needs to go to a doctors appointment I take her. If there is the rare need to go anywhere else I take her.

I have a blind friend who I take shopping twice a month and we can't stop that.

I try to get all of my needs taken care of while I am out helping them but it is in reality not possible.

It is frustrating to me but that is just my life.

just like diets, "project" plans, work duties, etc.
It takes a discipline to get it done - and GOOD LEADERSHIP can help to achieve it. Good sports teams - good troop actions - good actions on the part of a government - that all works!

However, what we have here is a FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP!!!!!

I don’t want to get COVID-19, risk getting any sort of permanent organ damage, and jeopardize the quality of life I expect to have for decades to come.

Oh, and I’m totally cocky when it comes to my attributes...

However, there’s far better ways to do it than to hang out with a large crowd of people! Good grief.

I never really liked hanging out on a crowded beach before the pandemic, so maybe it’s just easier for me?

Early on when experts were predicting we'd have to quarantine for long periods, I thought there was no way people would do it for that long. It's just too hard. It screws with us mentally and emotionally. This will come in waves as a result.
