I saw this on Daily Kos and I completely agree
people arent out protesting to be waitresses and hairdressers again. People are out demanding that waitresses and hairdressers go back to work. The idea is to force the service industry to serve them despite the risk to the servers.
If youve ever wondered what modern white america would think about slavery today consider the white women yelling and screaming because no one will die to do their frosted bangs. They feel every bit as entitled to own the lives of others as they did 150 years ago.

Talk about selfish little snowflakes.

(1,945 posts)I keep thinking about our parents and/or grandparents that not only went to war, but those that stayed home. Victory gardens, rationing not only household staples but also gasoline, rubber, coal, even shoes. Women left their homes to go work in factories to keep the war effort going. Many sacrifices for the common good, and these boobs today can't just cooperate with such simple requests to help save lives. So selfish, it's pathetic.

(2,626 posts)Restaurants and other businesses will be forced to open as the insurance that covers their closing due to situations like this will no longer be in effect.
If customers don't come in, or not enough of them come in, they're screwed. Highly possible that many will go out of business.
It's the same for any business in the hospitality or service industry.
A friend in Michigan is in the restaurant business. They're brainstorming at state and local levels about how to keep customers and staff safe if they reopen. If they space tables for social distancing they can't seat enough customers at one time and won't be able to break even. Other suggestions are to have staff wear masks even though customers obviously would not be wearing masks when they eat. None of it makes sense.
No good solutions yet and no doubt if things open right away that second wave won't be far behind.

(1,198 posts)Convincing their husbands to wear camouflage and carry high-powered guns into the streets to protest their being forced to stay home? Hmm I dont think so. I wouldnt blame women for this.

(8,572 posts)This is the second thread I've seen that featured this meme. I went into detail about what makes it misogynistic in my post #73 on that first thread:

(8,572 posts)As I said in that post, the sentiment is dead on accurate. The problem is the gendered verbiage used to describe the people being discussed. It's misogynistic to suggest that all the protesters out there are women screaming and yelling because the want their hairdressers frosting their bangs and their waitresses serving them lunch.

(82,383 posts)If they said they needed money, couldn't pay the rent, can't pay the utilities, etc. they'd get at least some sympathy. Instead, they demand hair cuts and nail polishing.
