Kudos to my CEO! She's keeping us closed even though Gov Desantis plans to reopen tomorrow

Just checked my email and she says we are staying the course and we will continue working remotely. Its not often that I praise a CEO, heck don't think I have ever done it. She also promised no one would lose their job. She did say that some people's hours may get reduced or reassigned to other positions but no one would lose their job.

I hope there are more CEOs out there like her that value the safety of their employees and the people they service.

I did read an article in Businessweek that some companies are finding, from this pandemic experience, that work-at-home is actually very efficient.

Many workers are actually putting in extra work in order to keep caught up. And of course, the business saves the expense of running a physical office.

It may become a trend.

I mean.. work from home for more means a better commute for everyone, less air polution for everyone, lower spending for both employer and employee.

On top of the other benefits. I really hope we as a nation take the chance to learn and develop.

Even 10 years ago, working from home would have been a CF for a lot of people.
But, with the proliferation of broadband and increased speeds it makes it more viable.
With my experience, there are still lots of professional positions for which there's no replacement for being there.
But, not necessarily 5 days a week.
I could see companies going to "work from home" except on days of major meetings.

the safety of its employees first. They are working with state by state recommendations and MA is still shut down until late May. I think our company will not even start having us come back until June and even then, not full time.

I think we will have alternate days so that people can distance and they will provide us with all the necessary PPE. We have already had a few emails about it so we don't know the exact plan, but we will definitely be taken care of.

I am sure that for those of us who feel at risk, they would still allow us a wfh option until things become more secure. I feel very fortunate to still have a job and work for a company that is putting the health of its employees first.
