2. comparisons to lincoln aside, the press has been incredibly, inexcusably kind to donnie

the press often gives him huge amounts of free publicity, and rarely does anything "worse" than report on what he actually says, often accompanied by the exact kind of "controversy" and complaining *from the exact people he's trying to offend*.

if completely plays into his hands when donnie says something racist, and then the press quotes black people getting offended. really, all it does is prove to donnie's base that it worked.

remember when your mom told you to just ignore the bully, don't give him the satisfaction of knowing he hurt you? this is the media's epic fail with donnie, they just love to give him all the attention he craves, and love to let everyone know just how effective his insults are.

5. Yeah. I know Linclon got a lot of bad press. There were riots and lynchings in New york over the

draft. That does not get you good press, even if it couldn't have been avoided. He did end up being called "Honest Abe" though, so overall it couldn't have been too bad.
