Well CNN seems to be on board with re-openings

Top of the hour “the spirit of re-opening”

Just now “quarantine fatigue is setting in”

In between they had the Mayor of Boston in disbelief of any re-opening. Wolf made sure to show crowds on the Mall in DC “getting outside. Enjoying the fresh air. Getting some exercise”.

They are mentioning that all the estimates are doubling. Gee, wonder why.

Ya'll go out and play now! Oh, and get to work, your capitalist elites, (who are safely sequestered in utmost, opulent luxury) demand it. CRACK! CRACK! WHIP!

Pay no attention to those super spreaders and asymptomatic vectors around you right now as you enjoy, enjoy, enjoy yourself, possibly for the last time. Make it count! Death is the ultimate freedom, right? Well, you get out there and fight for it.

Don't let anyone infringe on your rights to congregate, be close and not wear a mask. We have a herd to cull, don't know you? There is a whole wave of various types of automation and AI that will make those numbers of you useless eaters unsupportable. Sorry, we call it obsolete human resources and statistics. The old units dying off will relieve us of certain social obligations, (that socialistic stuff) and we may be able to cash in on their estates when possible, if they have anything left.

Be free to die. Let no one stop you. You won't really like life much when the automation comes and few jobs replace it because, well, let's just say that you are not getting our money for UBI or any help. That would be unprofitable.

Can people not go onto their back yards, porches, stoops, windows, etc... to get their vitamin D? I was out doing yard work yesterday and actually got mild sunburn. Did not have to be out and about in crowds on the National Mall, or other large social gathering.

As I have said a couple of times, I want to go outside and return to "normal" life too. This situation really sucks, but I am not willing to risk the lives of my family, friends, coworkers, and community members for that desire. When trusted public health officials say it is safe to get back out into the community, then I will do so.

that his doctors said many African Americans have low vitamin D because of the melanin in our skin. It makes it harder for us to absorb it from simply being outside.

Other sources of Vitamin D3 are fish (Salmon, Tuna, and other fatty fish), mushrooms, and egg yolks. I was mainly responding to the idea that people were suggesting that "going outside" meant breaking social distancing guidelines.

...
“ Previous work by geneticist Rick Kittles at the University of Chicago suggests that upwards of 75 percent of African-Americans are deficient in vitamin D. Kittles says that African-Americans living north of the 37th parallel — just about anyplace north of central California, Texas, Tennessee or North Carolina — will have difficulty through most of the year absorbing enough sunlight to make vitamin D, because of the low angle of the rays reaching the Earth's surface.”

Vitamin D has mostly been studied with relation to bone density, and African American people have been shown to need less Vitamin D than White people with respect to bone density, however, there are other protective factors that Vitamin D yields that prompted the promotion of supplementation through food and supplements since darker skin blunts the absorption of the ultraviolet rays that promote the production of Vitamin D in our skin.

Point I was responding to about getting out and getting sun is that we can get sun without breaking social distancing guidelines, which was the point of the original post in the thread.

My dr said my level was almost undetectable. Anyway, it was fine during my last checkup. Tyler Perry posted a video on Facebook the other night indicating that there was a possible link between covid 19 and vitamin d.

He specifically set it up to get the mayor's view on how to do that & still be safe.
The mayor answered exactly as he should, and Wolf continued to the next topic.
He was promoting nothing.

Mon May 4, 2020, 10:50 PM
May 2020

1. It's hard being a journalist when you can't get out of the house.
2. The Pandemic story has gotten old, and new organizations are having trouble attracting viewers as it becomes coronavirus-19-24/7.
3. It's hard to do a professional-looking news production when everyone is signing in from their kitchen.
4. News organizations have to walk a very fine line between promoting news caster celebrities and worrying that those same anchors will take their celebrity to another organization. That temptation becomes stronger when you're basically doing a vidcast and you realize that you don't really NEED the organization.

This is going to be a very interesting time for journalism.
