Trump did not push for early testing 'because higher numbers would harm his re-election chances"..

This is beyond politics. This is criminal.

==================================================

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/coronavirus-testing-trump-election-campaign-dan-diamond-alex-azar-a9399661.html

<snip>

Donald Trump did not push to carry out widespread coronavirus testing because he believed higher confirmed case numbers could be damaging for his re-election campaign, reports have claimed.

<snip>
But the US president is also reported to have been reluctant to launch a campaign of “aggressive testing”, which could have identified key outbreak areas.

<snip>
“That’s partly because more testing might have led to more cases being discovered of coronavirus outbreak,” said Dan Diamond, a Politico health reporter who has been investigating the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking to NPR, he added: “The president had made clear – the lower the numbers on coronavirus, the better for the president, the better for his potential re-election this fall.”

It's pretty easy to ID the dead people. No hard to get tests are needed.
So, no lack of testing was going to prevent those numbers from rising!

Trump can't do that. He doesn't have that capability.
He has the mind of a three year old and only reacts to what is directly in front of him at the moment.

Someone told him that testing will reveal more cases which could hurt his reelection.
Therefore, no testing.

That's as far as his thought process goes.

would test, consult with epidemiologists on the best course, target treatments, retest - and then maybe brag about the decline (one would hope) based on decent information.

It gets easier every day to understand how he could bankrupt a casino, let alone the other bankruptcies. I'm now surprised that there weren't many more.

Trump is sabotaging testing because more tests mean more confirmed cases of COVID-19 and bad for him. He is still doing it. He will be the death of us all at this rate.

"I like the numbers being where they are. I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault,"

He would have preferred to let Americans die on that ship. Let the infection spread amongst the 2000 plus passengers rather than have them come ashore and " double the numbers". I am sure someone talked him out of it and told him that Americans left to die on that ship would look worse than increased numbers.

Fuck Trump. Fuck his goddamn ego. Fuck everything about the man.

Thousands of lives were at risk, and all he gives a damn about is winning re-election? Fuck that motherfucker!

He had a duty of care to the American people and abdicated his duty for his own selfish ends. He absolutely MUST be put on trial and convicted for criminal negligence at the VERY LEAST.

15. 3 things were obvious early on:
Tue May 5, 2020, 05:57 PM
May 2020

1. He said he'd rather Americans die on a cruise ship if that's what it took to keep his numbers down.

2. He refused to launch -- and still refuses -- an aggressive testing effort because he thinks the numbers of cases would go up and his chance for "re-election" (I use that term very loosely) would be hurt.

3. Both of which prove what a foolish dumbass he is because:
a) saving American lives by ordering all of them to be taken off the cruise ship, tested and treated, would have raised his stock considerably early on, and
b)testing 10s of millions of people asap would have given an indication of the actual percentage of deaths resulting from the plague. By not testing, the idiot has allowed the identified deaths from the plague to occupy a much higher percentage of cases and to loom accordingly larger in the minds of the people who might be thinking about voting for him in November. We've lost 70,000 Americans and Trump seems OK with that (may God strike him down for his lack of feeling), but the 70,000 are based on 1.3 million cases. If the 70,000 were based on a more accurate 10 million cases, the lethality of the disease would be seen in better -- and less damning to Trump -- perspective.

(70,000 of 1.3 million = 5% fatality, 70,000 of 13,000,000 =.5%, assuming that the numbers of deaths are accurate and the identified cases so far are off by a factor of 10.)

The best numbers we have seem to indicate a mortality rate of about 2%, as long as the 10% who need hospital care get it. The countermeasures were never about keeping people from getting it; once it was in the general population, as contagious as this thing is absent a vaccine everyone is eventually going to get it. What the countermeasures are about is keeping everyone from getting it at the same time and overwhelming the hospital system with victims who might recover with proper care, but can't get it and also die.

18. An American President did this...
Tue May 5, 2020, 06:07 PM
May 2020

This President took deliberate steps to prevent the nation from preparing for a War purely because he did not want to risk any insights and information that might put his political ambitions at risk.

His deliberate actions allowed the enemy to inflict massive casualties on the entire nation. Many many people died who may not have otherwise been infected...

There a term for that kind of behavior in wartime! And there is a way we need to deal wth it.

for the herd immunity of the uninfected to kick in. Until the vaccine is ready, nationwide mass testing is the only answer...unless the master plan is to kill off as many Democratic voters as possible, with defunding of the postal service to undermine voting by mail for good measure

Tue May 5, 2020, 06:20 PM

is the main reason he keeps getting away with it.

He's been a petty, narcissistic thuglet for literally his entire life.

Just 30 minutes of open minded, unbiased research on the man will reveal 95% of the character he has displayed for literally his entire life.

At what point does refusing to accept this reality make his followers complicit in his actions?

For at least 100 years America has held, and even occasionally militarily enforced, the position that ignorance is not a valid excuse when the facts are easily obtainable. America must now apply this standard to herself or she will lose not only all credibility, but indeed The Republic itself.

However, the vast majority of American citizens do not realize, and in fact are not even prepared to consider, that this is exactly what these people want.

After all, the primary initial goal of the Nazi Party was to destroy the Weimar Republic, and these American Nazis are no different.
