Gun Control PAC experiencing fundraising boom during pandemic.

Brady PAC, which is a sister organization of the pro-gun control group, announced a series of Democratic endorsements. The group is backing three challengers: Eugene DePasquale (PA-10), Barbara Bollier (KS-Sen) and Theresa Greenfield (IA-Sen). It is also backing eleven freshman frontline House Democrats: Reps. Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07), Elaine Luria (VA-02), Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), Kim Schrier (WA-08), Mike Levin (CA-49), Josh Harder (CA-10), Harley Rouda (CA-48), Jahana Hayes (CT-05), Lauren Underwood (IL-14), Cindy Axne (IA-03) and Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11).

The group said it has also seen an unexpected boom in fundraising, even amid the pandemic. “What we’re seeing with Covid, especially tied to gun stores being deemed essential business and the panic purchase of firearms, has created angst and anxiety within the movement,” Brian Lemek, the PAC’s executive director, told Score. “You have these armed militias storming statehouses … all of this is being seen by the public and leading to the outrage” and “creating awareness.” Lemek said the group’s budget is now $5 million-plus for the cycle, up about $1 million from roughly two months ago.
