Yep. I said it. Fuck you Chris Christie - The American Way of Life that brought evil cretins like you to the forefront should be destroyed.
The way of life that left the majority of Americans working jobs that did not allow them to save $400.00 for a rainy day while CEOs salaries got higher and higher.
The way of life that lead to the healthcare disparity, poor air quality, poverty, food deserts, that lead to so many minorities losing their lives during this pandemic.
The way of life that made it necessary for families or friends to live 8 people in a small apartment because they can't afford the ridiculous rents.
The way of life that forced people to go to work while they were sick because they did not have paid sick leave, thus spreading the virus
Here's hoping that we demand An American Way of Life that values all people and not just corporations.

(816 posts)but I would premise your statement with the "current" American Way of Life. The one that started with Raygun.

(58,785 posts)careful what you wish for. And vote for. As we can see, we've been here before and you're in grave danger of getting it. Those who believe in and fought to protect all we need to save while using it to build on may not be able to save the rest this time.
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
Though the similarity to current times is striking, that 'the "best" lack all conviction' is of course to some degree mere poetic license. Both then and now, our real best do not lack conviction.
