Trump again pushing to paint border wall black in move that could cost $500M: report

Trump is pushing for the border wall to be painted black, which could up the price of the project by $500 million, according to contracts obtained by The Washington Post.

Military and border officials have tried to dissuade the president from the design preference because of the initial cost as well as upkeep, according to the Post. Trump has reportedly insisted that the design would deter unauthorized immigrants from climbing it.

Though they left it out of the original U.S. Customs and Border Protection design specifications, Trump reportedly told White House officials to go forward with the paint job.

The president has reportedly promoted the idea of the border wall amid the pandemic to his staff. Trump has publicly touted the structure, as well as increased immigration enforcement in general, as a way to prevent the virus from further spreading to the U.S.

...and it was 30 feet high everywhere, it's still >$3 a square foot!
That would be a 20x15 with 8 foot walls living room cost in $1,680 not including the ceiling!
And, there'd be no volume discounting because it's just 4 walls. And the wall won't require detail work. No window and door trim, no ceiling line, no inward corners.
And, we had our living room painted about 2 years ago. 16x12. 348 sq. ft. of walls & 216 of ceiling. 564 square feet, $600. $1.07 per square foot including the details AND ceiling border!
This price is inflated by at least 300%.
