Any other DUers notice their RW relatives & acquaintances doing more swearing than usual?

I'd been thinking about posting about this yesterday, was reminded this morning after seeing a thread about a RWNJ on a profanity-laced rant about being required to wear a mask to shop for groceries:

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100213402787

I have one RW relative in particular who used to swear occasionally, but now drops F-bombs in almost every sentence if talking about COVID-19 and its impact.

Other RW relatives are also much more likely to swear.

They don't seem at all able to handle the reality of the pandemic breaking into their alternate RW universe.

And their usual defense mechanism of dismissing reality as fake news doesn't work as well when it affects daily life and their favorite restaurants and stores.

Fortunately I haven't heard of any talk of violence from those relatives (all of whom own guns), but one reacted to news of a COVID-19 spike near a favorite Walmart by announcing they'll go shopping there without a mask in the future.

Because irrational defiance works soooo well against viruses...

Nope. I do notice that I am swearing a metric fuckton more than usual. Which is a lot. Maru Kitteh May 2020 #1

Metric Fuckton
More properly, "Metric Fucktonne." The Fuckton is the Imperial standard for the measurement of fuckweight, while the Fucktonne, in contrast, constitutes the Metric measure of fuckmass.

Generally used to imply superlative quantity with the Metric standard included to emphasise this point. The inclusion of the term is, however, fundamentally a misuse of that standard, as the Imperial Fuckton (2000 Imperial Fuckpounds) denotes a slightly greater measure of fuckweight within Earth's gravitational pull than does the Metric Fuckton (1000 Metric Fuckilograms).
I've got a Metric Fucktonne of this stuff to finish before Monday, or I'm fucked indeed.

I'm not yet wearing pants, I'll take it as a good omen for the day's remainder.

Because he interjected the word “shit” into a civil discussion. I told him that if he was gonna use profanity at least be creative.

I’m not using more profanity however against these fuckwad sons of bitch bastard motherfuckers.

They do seem to be a particularly brittle bunch about now, struggling to make reality conform to their delusions. Something's gotta give, and in some cases, it already is (think of the woman shooting up a McDonald's because they were serving take-out only).

It is just a casual way to express yourself. They wouldn't do it at work, but around friends and family sure.

I have a few republican/conservative friends, but they aren't they type to talk like that all that much. I'm more likely to be the one cursing. LOL! I haven't said much to anyone in the last few months anyhow. I've been busy with work and managing home school with the kids at the same time. Not easy. FYI, my high school senior just said, "On the plus side, we haven't had any school shootings."
