Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said on Wednesday that she will support Rep. John Ratcliffe's (R-Texas) nomination to be the next director of national intelligence.

Collins's support all but guarantees Ratcliffe will have the votes necessary to advance out of the Intelligence Committee with a favorable recommendation.

"I interviewed him at great length over the phone when we were out of Washington," Collins told The Hill. "I asked him then and again yesterday a series of tough questions about whether he would be independent, present unvarnished analysis to the president and Congress, and he said he would."

Asked if she was supporting Ratcliffe's nomination, she replied, "I am."

and I SO hope Collins goes DOWN in November, I have given money to the Dem frontrunners in most of 13 flippable Senate seat races.

I am still beside myself that the following flat out refused to run, especially Tim McGraw and Sibelius as those are two open Rethug seats and they were probably the one Dems who could have won.

AK (Begich, although he likely would have lost anyway, so not nearly as upset as the other 3)

TN (Tim McGraw)
KS (Sebelius)

GA (Special election) (Yates) Abrams as well, but I guess she is dead set on either VP or a 2022 Gubernatorial rematch with Kemp. We have 3 decent candidate all going for the same (the Regular election against Perdue) seat, so one of them should have slid over and tried to knock out that fuckstick Doug Collins.

Right now I think we lose Doug Jones BUT we flip SIX seats

CO
AZ
MT
NC
ME
IA

Which gives us a 52-46 majority.

If Sibelius and McGraw had run, I would say we flip 8, and Yates maybe 9.

The regular GA seat could also go our way, as one of Jon Ossoff, or Teresa Tomlinson, or Sarah Riggs Amico could possibly beat Perdue (he is weak, and Yates or Abrams would have smashed him IMHO), but they are starting to go a bit negative on each other now in the primary. I can hope the party can unite around the winner.

rules from the bench in exactly the way his previous statements would suggest.
So there's that.

He rules from a nicely appointed office. In Ratcliffe's case, he won't rule much at all, being, as the Russians say, "stupid as a cork." He'll learn his scripts and do as he is told, or he will have a shorter term at this post than Scaramucci did as communications director.

Actually the biggest irony of all is giving the title of Director of National Intelligence to someone who has none.
