It's going to be Veronica Biggins

She's smart, was in the Clinton White House for years, knows everybody, is a WOC from Georgia.

Besides, she's a pal of mine, and I adore her (serious plus, if you ask me, which you shouldn't).

NO, I'm not being serious. But at this point, neither is anyone else who just KNOWS who it is going to be.

They ALL start with "it's going to be...."

So I added one more to the list.

I'm not smart, but am a smart ass. I'm so white my friends swear I glow in the dark. I swear a lot, so I'll draw in that voter demographic. The big plus? I'm smarter than trump. Pence would be sniveling in a corner, sucking his thumb by the time I was done with him in a debate. If he doesn't want to debate me I'll challenge Mother instead.

There are no more than 80% of the population joining you in that elite group. Maybe even less than that.

I wouldn't want to challenge Mother, though. She has stuck it out with Pence for decades without so much as a hint of divorce talk. She must be tougher than titanium-reinforced steel.

She will fall once she is challenged. She created this circle around her where she is top of the food chain. It doesn't matter where you are on the food chain, you can still get eaten, with fava beans and a nice chianti.

"I'm so white my friends swear I glow in the dark."

My add-on favorite (besides the usual crew) is: Carmen Yulin Cruz, Mayor of San Juan.

Now, even though she is running for Governor of Puerto Rico in 2020, and even though PR probably needs her a whole heckuva lot, I have long fantasized that she is on the ticket. I don't actually know for a certainty that she can run with Biden (even though PR is ours and they can vote,) but it would be great to have her on board.

She's the one who stood waist deep in hurricane water while checking on her people. While Trump threw paper towels, she was in the drink. What a wonderful campaign poster that would make. She has guts, which I admire, and she could make mince meat out of Pence.

Biden/Cruz 2020...

PS: We could really use her first name in the campaign, so pretty, with a lot of room for fanciful dancing..."I don't know, let's ask Carmen!"

Oh, well...

Almost no candidate outside of an incumbent ticket makes that kind of an announcement before the convention. It makes no sense whatsoever to give the Republicans and their propaganda outlets (Fox, National Hate Radio, etc.) a target to practice shooting at. Part of Obama's genius for picking Biden in 2008 was that it was very hard to dislike Joe Biden. For that matter, the same could be said for Carter picking Fritz Mondale or Bill Clinton picking Al Gore. One of the biggest complaints about Tim Kaine was that there was too little to say about him one way or the other.

One thing that can be said about the names being tossed around as Biden's potential choices, NONE of them, including the ones I dislike, are so boring as to make for a dull choice.

Why make a choice he has months to make? Why not keep the Republican propaganda machine in the dark about to whom they need to tailor their hate campaign in the Fall?

Otherwise why would he be doing a special interview with her. Seems like they are linked and he will be making this official soon is my best guess thru the looking glass.

Fer Pete's sake, I was NOT being serious!!!

That was the real point of my thread. No one, almost surely including Joe Biden, knows yet. Any assertion to the contrary is either wishful thinking, or you are Jill Biden reporting what Joe has revealed while talking in his sleep.

Biden would not be smart to reveal the identity of his choice this early, and I think he's smart enough to not even have MADE a choice at this point. The smart campaign move would be to keep everyone guessing and speculating, something he seems to be accomplishing with astonishing success. Free media attention, what's not to like? Biden, of all people, knows how this works, and knows the advantage of waiting until the convention to announce his choice. He, himself, was the successful result of Obama deftly using the same strategy.

Back in 2008, the same kind of ridiculous speculation was all over DU with Obama's choice for VP. 75% of the board just KNEW who the VP was going to be, and they were mostly wrong. Because two of Biden's Senate staff carelessly let the cat out of the bag in front of a relative of mine at about 7AM Eastern time, 9 hours before the announcement was made (they assumed, wrongly, that he was a foreigner who spoke no English), and he told me about half an hour later, I posted the choice of Biden on DU about 7 hours before the public announcement was made. DU got the news between 6 and 7 hours before any of the media, and I was STILL roundly trashed for it (LINK?!?!?! What makes YOU so special? You're fulla shit, how do YOU know? Know what, you're just WRONG, period! etc etc.).

MAYBE Biden will follow another tactic, but I think he will follow Obama's example.

to be held, each with a different VP contender. Just because she's first, doesn't make her the only. Gotta' start somewhere if your idea is to showcase each possibility.
