It is difficult to feel sympathy for people who walk past all the warning signs, climb

over the barricades, walk up to the edge of the cliff, gaze into the abyss, smile and step off into the void.

Is this not what the "open the country" protesters are doing?

and complain that the government didn't do more to keep it under control.

Their hypocrisy is matched only by their stupidity.

Suicide bombers of uncertain and highly variable effectiveness, anyhow.

I follow my county’s local Facebook group in a rural red area in western Pennsylvania. It runs heavily towards conservative politics, anti-shutdown rhetoric, and crackpot theories. But there is a dark subtext to all of it and that subtext is that many people here have been economically devastated by the shutdown. There are many anxious posts about collecting unemployment and getting food. These are people who have never known or seen a Covid patient, but are staring homelessness and starvation in the face because of Covid.

that is based on facts gathered from testing and tracking. This would get these people back to work, but in a different way, perhaps in different jobs.

Unfortunately, there are no "responsible leaders" in the Trump regime. Unemployment = hunger and hardship and desperation, i.e., chaos. And, chaos is what Trump is counting on to remain in power.

And, if a few extra hundred thousand Americans die because of his ignorance,---"whatever".

That's the excuses I can fit in the reply title, I'll choose to stay clear of them as much as possible, especially now.

By faith, it could be religion and/or just other people and/or in their news choices.

Some folks can't handle any challenge to their beliefs, either?

Either way arrived at Shitshow Mountain, and this appears to be the series finale?
