Texas Cases Jump Two Weeks Into Reopening

Texas Cases Jump Two Weeks Into Reopening

Texas saw its deadliest day and its biggest increase in new cases since the start of the outbreak. The second most populous U.S. state added 1,448 new cases to its rolls on Thursday, outpacing the previous peak of 1,441 on April 10, state health department data showed. Fatalities climbed by 58 to more than 1,200, the largest-ever daily increase.

The surge in new cases comes two weeks into Governor Greg Abbott’s controversial moves to reopen the economy and ease restrictions that shuttered vast swaths of commercial and social life for weeks.

The best estimates are that the virus has a two week incubation period, so what you see today is the result of what was going on two weeks ago. More relaxation of restrictions will lead to more people being infected and more people dying.

republican governors), mostly in the Midwest, plains states plus Iowa, Missouri, and a few others, that CV trends trailed or lagged behind, will now start (as existing CV infections take root) increasing.

In some of these states, we're already seeing some pretty large % increases but of course initial numbers of CV cases are low, which explains why % increases being seen are so large. The bad news is that in those states
that lagged in implementing protective measures, are now starting to see more and more CV cases.

That's why even though the stay at home order in MO is ending this coming Monday (May18, 2020), I'm still going to continue to self isolate, for at least a week or so more.

in some jurisdictions (like in MO) where you review the % of overall CV cases vs. the number of CV-related deaths, and %s ranged from over 10% of the CV cases result in death (the most extreme number) down to an 4% to 7% range, but one case in particular struck my eye, it was 3%, a rural trump county, it screamed out right at me (or anyone else) that the numbers aren't accurate or are being fudged.

I think your refrigerator trucks outside the doors of the funeral homes is a great analogy and illustrative picture of the actual CV deaths (vs. 'fake' or 'fudged' CV deaths).

Conservatives willingly sacrifice children for their 2nd Amendment "freedoms". Conservatives have repeatedly put profit over people.

This is just more of the same. As long as conservatives and their families are not the ones paying the price they don't give a f**k.

So CA still has S-i-P but things are totally reopening too, in stages...at least in 2 counties, mine included.
ElDorado County is home to LAke Tahoe, where EVERYONE comes up from the Bay and Sac and LA even... guess what? even if the hotels and vrbo's are still closed, we had SO many people up here this past weekend.

So much for safety

Our local hospital has 68 beds and 5 of those are ICU

It's been nice knowin ya!

The virus is on my mind every day. I no longer see a reason to buy much except food and a handful of necessities. A major consideration is the question: "If I buy this *whatever it is*, will I be here to use it? Or will I be dead soon after?"

So I don't buy. I can't see piling up things I might never use, and to burden my heirs with dealing with it. I'm sure they'd rather have the 10s and 20s.
