Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAfter watching Joe Biden and Stacey Abrams last night, I had my best sleep in 4 years
I wasn't alive at the time, but I did research for a paper on FDR and his fireside chats.
Joe was direct, honest, warm, compassionate, tough and intelligent. I was a bit surprised by his ability to connect. Surprised because of the MSM pushing a completely different version of Joe Biden.
While Joe personified an America that we were once proud of, and need to get back to... competent governance, intelligence, thoughtfulness and America as a beacon of hope leading the world, Stacey Abrams showed us an America of grit, determination, common sense and promise.
She was fantastic.
I don't know if this will be our ticket, but if it is, they will not only crush Donnie Dollhands, they will make a strong push in destroying the ignorant dipshit Donnie Shit for Brains cult, and sending them back to their mom's basements.
Like I said, I slept well last night... and today I'm ready to fight these Retrumplican fucksticks all over this country.

(9,958 posts)Trump was a complete jerk when he appeared on Sterns show, which I think he did a lot. Sterns recent comment that Trump would have nothing to do with his supporters or allow any of them into Mar-a-Lago, along with some juicy tapes, might help a few see the light.

(15,287 posts)I don't give a fuck what they say. They voted for Donnie Shit for Brains for one reason and ONE reason ONLY!
He promised to hurt the people THEY WANT to see hurt!
That's it.

(81,085 posts)From everything I've heard and read and observed.
Our side has been under assault, and deeply wounded, by a nonstop barrage of hate radio from coast to coast, and fairytales-from-Hell in Pox Noise and metastasizing cancers like OAN and the Sinclair stations.
WHY is NO ONE among the presumably open-minded super rich, buying up radio and TV stations and developing networks of truth-telling? Bill Gates could do it. Elon Musk could do it. Michael Bloomberg could do it. But that strategy is so far behind the wrong-wingers and knuckled-draggers who seem hellbent on turning back the clock on women's rights, workers' rights, the interests and advancement of people of color, and more.
I apologize. I woke up in a major funk this morning. Things just seem to be looking darker and more grim all over, at the moment. I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel. All I see are disturbing trends that the Troglodytes are winning. In the last few days I've actually found myself wondering whether the only realistic solution is to consider moving to Canada or something...
donald trump is the worst thing that has EVER happened to our country. And he's brought out the very worst in the worst among us.
On edit -
I realize I need to work on this. CANNOT give up the fight. CANNOT give in to discouragement, which is really plaguing me this morning. Not sure why. Although any republi-CON anywhere can end me toward doom 'n' gloom. Just the fact that they exist, period, can do that if I allow it. Probably gonna be fighting with myself all day...

(46,023 posts)I write sexy romance. I knew she was brilliant. If it wasnt an issue when she ran for governor, maybe it wouldnt for VP.
Ill bet she has about a dozen answers for why romance is great. She could tell Pence she celebrates love while he denigrates it.

(86,307 posts)My name has a different spelling and everyone always gets it wrong... and they rarely get the other name right too.
I recorded it and havent had a chance to watch it yet, but I still say Warren or Harris for VP.
If, or when, Biden wins, he be 82 at the end of his first term and chances are good he might step down. We need a vp who could run for President in 4 years and I just dont think Stacy Abrams is ready for that. Warren, no problem.Harris , no problem.
My concern with Warren is that while she might bring more progressives to the ticket, she might alienate more conservative Democrats. I dont see that problem with Harris. Plus, Stacy is way to...eager? pushy? in her desire to be on the ticket. And she needs a lot more experience . Of course I will vote democratic no matter who Biden picks.

(2,380 posts)I voted for Stacey Abrams here in Georgia and like her very much but don't think she's the right candidate. She just doesn't check the experience boxes. Warren has the name recognition and the big ideas and I don't think there will BE many conservative Democrats come November.

(2,412 posts)It was a thing of beauty to see some compassionate and rational leadership. I love that Joe called out Racism for the scourge it is, a blight on our country that must be solved. We never had a reconciliation process after The Civil War and todays madness is the result. They did it in Rwanda and we can do it here! We felt that watching Joe and Stacy was a return to normalcy but even better, a new future for America. The team that Joe has assembled to guide policy is truly forward thinking and creative!

(6,542 posts)It was my first in-depth exposure to Stacey Abrams, and I love her and her take on what needs to be done, as well as her "get things done" attitude and feisty stance. She not only has ideas, but works to make them a reality. Go Joe and Stacey!

(21,596 posts)I missed watching it live. Im searching, but finding only clips.
Im a Georgian and I think that Stacey Abrams would make a fine VP. We would certainly be in a much better situation here in Georgia, if Ms. Abrams was our Governor right now, and not KKKemp.

(34,195 posts)Biden has said he wants a VP with the experience to become president at a moment's notice if the need arises.
I'm guessing that means someone with national and international experience?

(43,026 posts)and appearing with her last night is, to me, a sure sign she won't be the VP nominee. It will ultimately be someone you hadn't considered, or someone who's been hiding in the shadows for months and months.

I love Stacy and sure she would have a place in his administration...but dont see her as ready to step into the presidency when there are so many qualified women who would be great picks....after his vp pick, Id like to see him put together his cabinet and agency leaders to replace the lunatics doner stooges who are dismantling the government

(11,509 posts)However, she has never been elected to any senior level office in Georgia or any office in DC, and isnt ready for a VP slot, which is only a heartbeat away from the presidency. CEO positions require experience, especially for arguably the most important and powerful ceo position in the world. It will especially matter with the gargantuan cleanup that will be required after Trump leaves office.
