(66,316 posts)I was in college (back during the Bush Sr. era) and a real Reagan-worshipper, real right-wing, flag-waving, rah-rah "America #1! type.
I know, right?
I had a guy in one of my classes, his name was Michael, and he was a really laid-back kind of guy, no sweat, can't complain hippie left over from the Sixties.
He and I used to meet up after class and go for a walk around the lake behind the main campus and just talk about life. We hardly ever, IIRC, discussed politics. But his liberal sensibilities rubbed off on me, and I began to drift back to the progressive views my parents had inculcated in me.
I owe him a lot.
