Typical crap CNN propaganda right-leaning puff piece

America's response to the coronavirus is the most American thing ever
There are no national guidelines and no organized efforts to reopen the country beyond what measures states have taken. Public health officials say one thing while governors say another and President Donald Trump says something else entirely. We Americans are left to make up our own minds.
It's a symptom of American individualism, a national value that prizes personal freedoms, limited government and free will over all else.

"It's always been the orientation of America on balance, compared to other countries, to put a priority on individual freedom and liberty," says Andrea Campbell, a professor of political science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who studies the intersection of politics and public health.
It's the ideal that birthed the US, when colonists split from the British monarchy to establish their own nation. It powered pioneers who ventured west to the frontier, where they settled their own towns and made their own rules. It's in our DNA.

What they describe as “American” is to not give a damn about the life and health of your fellow human beings? Or to have no coordinated federal response?

Remember when Tennessee and Connecticut and Nevada each landed residents of their states on the moon? Remember how Florida and Iowa and Arizona built homemade canoes, rafts, and catamarans to land people on the beaches of Normandy? And Utah and Pennsylvania and California followed up with some air transports (helicopters, hang gliders, hot air balloons) to provide cover a month or two later? I don’t either.

The guys at Normandy put granny at the front of the attack. “Get out of the boat, Gramps! Your time has come!”

And the nurses that fixed them up afterward? Crisis actors, not real nurses.

Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do to fight the wearing of face masks.

Give me freedom or give my neighbor death!

Just had that pop up in my news. I thought it looked good but the author got away from the topic.

In February at work I told co-workers two things:
This is going to be way worse than you all know (some were poo pooing it)
Rugged individualism is going to get in our way.

I could see it coming. Don’t tell ME what to do! I also knew they THEY had to divide us somehow- that’s how it’s been. Fight over nickels while the rich are backing up a truck to the banks and treasury. When the right started championing the churches I knew it was on.

The premise of the piece was that it was our own brazen selfishness or you could say our maverick spirit. Unfortunately the author went off into the “rallying around the leader” stuff THEN went into the binary political division. He ended up with a “both sides do it” and then some excuse about us not trusting science. The right is great at following orders (lock step) and there are following to a T and to their own peril.
