https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-press-conference-today-executive-order-economy-regulations-coronavirus-a9523126.html%3fampDonald Trump, eager to juice the staggering US economy to boost his re-election bid, signed an executive order on Tuesday he said is designed to help businesses recover from the Covid-19 outbreak.
The president told his Cabinet members during a White House meeting the order "gives you tremendous power to cut regulation."
The order is about "instructing federal agencies to use any and all authority to waive, suspend and eliminate unnecessary regulations that impede economic recovery," Mr Trump said before signing it with a large black felt pen.

(3,994 posts)won't until they feel safe. He's throwing out every single piece or rope hoping against hope the public will grab on and save his flailing and failing presidency.
Odd, but the one thing he could have done is the one thing (well, maybe 3) that would have restored confidence: testing, tracing, distancing. But oh now, he knew better.
Btw, this E.O. means nothing as it's not the regulations that are holding things back. Talk about throwing a Hail Mary pass!

Could it possibly be that far reaching or am I just freaking out unnecessarily?
Ok maybe you cant undo a law. Just important regulations.
Still making me really uncomfortable.

(24,391 posts)it surely won't be good for us. I would just assume the worst and pretty much expect that businesses- if they think they are going to get away with something- will probably be able to get away with it while all of this is going on and Trump is POTUS. The man can't grasp that more sick and dead people is actually far worse for him (and us) than a bad economy caused by a virus through no fault of anybody.
