Trump announces executive order 'suspending' regulations impeding the economy

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-press-conference-today-executive-order-economy-regulations-coronavirus-a9523126.html%3famp

Donald Trump, eager to juice the staggering US economy to boost his re-election bid, signed an executive order on Tuesday he said is designed to help businesses recover from the Covid-19 outbreak.

The president told his Cabinet members during a White House meeting the order "gives you tremendous power to cut regulation."

The order is about "instructing federal agencies to use any and all authority to waive, suspend and eliminate unnecessary regulations that impede economic recovery," Mr Trump said before signing it with a large black felt pen.

I'll support my favorite restaurants - through take out. I'll support my favorite breweries by buying beer to go. No way in hell would I get on a plane or stay in a hotel right now. Hell I haven't even set foot in a store since this crisis started.

Holy crap. He just gave them a blank check.

I don’t see any way that could possibly go wrong.

This orange SOB is putting the pedal to the metal to destroy our country.

January cannot get here fast enough.

won't until they feel safe. He's throwing out every single piece or rope hoping against hope the public will grab on and save his flailing and failing presidency.

Odd, but the one thing he could have done is the one thing (well, maybe 3) that would have restored confidence: testing, tracing, distancing. But oh now, he knew better.

Btw, this E.O. means nothing as it's not the regulations that are holding things back. Talk about throwing a Hail Mary pass!

I took it to mean: Don’t like emissions standards or safety protections for workers or the consumer, or even pesky child labor laws? Get rid of ‘em.

Could it possibly be that far reaching or am I just freaking out unnecessarily?

Ok maybe you can’t undo a law. Just important regulations.

Still making me really uncomfortable.

it surely won't be good for us. I would just assume the worst and pretty much expect that businesses- if they think they are going to get away with something- will probably be able to get away with it while all of this is going on and Trump is POTUS. The man can't grasp that more sick and dead people is actually far worse for him (and us) than a bad economy caused by a virus through no fault of anybody.

I think CDC protocols would limit their ability to commence operations unless waived. However, with regard to cruises they still face multi-national obstacles

He has specifically mentioned these industries before
