Progressives lost in Multnomah County! Holy shit!

Portland is one of the most progressive cities in the nation. Moderate Mayor Ted Wheeler wins primary, may avoid run off. Progressives fought hard for Sarah Iannarone but lost. Also, Moderate Mark Hass will beat Shamia Fagan for SOS.

All this does is put Biden into perspective. Yes, most of us here wanted a more progressive candidate, but he's a moderate who can oust the Orange Pustule and start this country on the road to recovery.

Expect more moderate Democrats to carry the primaries this time around. They might not make the sweeping changes we know this country needs, but they won't be out to finish destroying it, either. I can live with that.

5. No Not "most of you".. Most Wanted Biden.. that's Why

he Overwhelmingly WON with the Most Votes and Spent 4x Less $$$$ to do it.

A President Biden would be so much more than ".. won't be out to Destroy it, either"..

Why don't you read Biden's Platform before making remarks like that?

I would take that to mean here at DU, and Warpy would be correct. Liz Warren was the favorite choice in GDP for most of the primaries. I don't think Joe led until the end when he won, did he? Alternately, Warpy could mean "here" as in where Warpy lives, but I have no reference for where that might be.

And finally, Warpy's assessment is a perfectly civil and reasonable one; a measured reply to the OP and I agree. Not everyone is a cheerleader and that's okay, but IMO everyone should be civil and polite to each other here. What we disagree with each other about here is minuscule compared to all of our disagreements with the Repugs.

The Dems, too.. Joe Biden's Platform isn't "moderate"..

Sorry, I was thinking who the most wanted out in Real Life when they actually voted.. not on DU.

15. Speak for yourself. I wanted Biden and did not want a more progressive candidate.

Also, stop attacking the Democratic nominee. Maybe the voters are not that into those you. When you find yourself losing consistently, maybe a look at the message or outreach is in order.

Hated because he's in the pocket of developers who are destroying Portland neighborhoods in the interest of profit. Properties where wonderful old craftsman homes are torn down, replaced with tickytacky enormous ugly things that then sit empty, unsellable.

I’m betting he runs for governor.

(I can’t vote for city officials or measures as I’m outside city limits so I’m just a Portland observer.)

Two progressives running against him. I voted for Jamie and she probably took votes from Shamia but I didn’t know her to vote for her living in southern Oregon where Jamie is from.

12. Wheeler is the incumbent and Hass has serious name recognition

It’s hard to topple an incumbent.

Hass used to be a tv reporter. He’s been known in the state for decades.

It’s way less about moderate vs progressive imho.

A small coterie of utopians, who seem honestly to believe half a loaf is worse than no bread at all, lost. As they always will lose, and always ought to lose.
