CDC officials say 'lives and money' lost by delayed White House coronavirus response: report
By Justine Coleman - 05/20/20 09:43 AM EDT
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials said lives and money were lost because of the delayed coronavirus response by the White House, CNN reported Wednesday.
The CDC had proposed a global advisory advising against air travel about a week before an alert was published in mid-March, according to documents obtained by CNN. This delay caused the U.S. to lose vital time to fight the pandemic as 66,000 European travelers entered American airports every day.
CDC officials told CNN that the agencys plans to combat the coronavirus pandemic were crippled by the White House, which they said prioritized politics over science.
The delay for the global advisory is the latest reported example of the strained relationship between the agency and White House throughout the pandemic. Six mid- and higher-ranking staff members at the CDC expressed their discontent to the news outlet.

Just when I think I couldn't hate that mother fucker anymore."
BTW Trump and company were told of the virus and the real possibility of a global pandemic
in November of 2019*. And that is when Trump and Kush-Turd invested in their own C-19
test kits and hydroxycholorquine. Trump owing China a shit load of money might have very well
contributed to his late and ill prepared response to C-19 too.

(4,379 posts)It says, 66,000 European travelers arrive everyday at our airports. Probably most of them arrived at New York City airports. Cuomo has already stated the virus that hit New York came from Europe, not China.

(70,447 posts).... didn't help either. That got sick and or killed many Drs., nurses, tech, pulmonologits,
and first responders. Some went to work to save the sick in garbage bags and home made
masks.

(53,342 posts)'We've been muzzled': CDC sources say White House putting politics ahead of science

But about a week passed before the alert was issued publicly -- crucial time lost when about 66,000 European travelers were streaming into American airports every day.
The delay, detailed in documents obtained by CNN, is the latest example to emerge of a growing sense of disconnect between the CDC and the White House.
In interviews with CNN, CDC officials say their agency's efforts to mount a coordinated response to the Covid-19 pandemic have been hamstrung by a White House whose decisions are driven by politics rather than science.
