Bernie Sanders, seeking peace with Joe Biden, asks his own delegates to turn down the volume

Sen. Bernie Sanders, whose delegates staged a raucous rebellion against Hillary Clinton at the 2016 Democratic convention, is trying to engineer a different outcome this year — by turning down the volume on his social media-driven army of 2020 delegates.

The Vermont senator’s campaign has told some supporters picked to represent him this year to sign agreements barring attacks on other candidates or party leaders, combative confrontations on social media or talking to reporters without approval.

The move, which carried a threat of being removed as a delegate, has the effect of blunting one of the most powerful if divisive tools of Sanders’s movement — its unrestrained online presence and tendency to stoke controversy through other media, which has at times spiraled into abuse of his opponents, perceived and real.

“Refrain from making negative statements about other candidates, party leaders, Campaigns, Campaign staffers, supporters, news organizations or journalists. This Campaign is about the issues and finding solutions to America’s problems,” said the social media policy sent to some delegates. “Our job is to differentiate the senator from his opponents on the issues — not through personal attacks.”

He should have said it a long time ago, but I'm glad he finally realized that some of the Bros are really not helping him or his reputation, let alone Biden's candidacy.

declaring he still wanted to be on ballots to get delegates to have control over Biden. What is that? It was very important Oregon went Biden and let Sanders see it in his face, otherwise if there was wiggle room he would run with it. He helped to take down HRC. And yes, still pissed. Like people said below, he should have done the same with HRC.

I haven't heard anything about Covid in Hawaii. How are you all faring?

We don't believe anything we're hearing in FL. They are all lying.

Visitors coming to the Island have to quarantine for 2 weeks before venturing out.. if they break the rules they're sent home.

Mahalo for asking, mcar!

How are you and your family doing? I have a sister and her family in Gainesville and my nephew and his girlfriend in St Pete.

The teeth in those agreements had better be shown sharp and quick and soon, because the fact is Sanders really has no control over the radical types who appear as his delegates, who view him as nothing but a vehicle for their splenetic utopianism. He has 'called up that which he cannot put down', and now barely qualifies as a has-been who never was.

the way they are acting now in 2016. The nation and the world would have been spared a lot of grief.

It should have happened in 2016. It did not. We now have 100K dead come this weekend. It shouldn't have come to this, so much incompetency in this admin could have been avoided with Hillary in charge.

I will give him a small amount of credit now, yet years to late.

And I can't help but wonder if he's doing it now because Biden isn't, well, HRC, if you know what I mean.
