Dec. 4 2019

MSNBC legal analyst Mimi Rocah will announce she’s running for Westchester County district attorney today, looking to unseat incumbent Anthony Scarpino in a 2020 Democratic Party primary.

Rocah, a 49-year-old Scarsdale resident, said she decided to get involved because of the “hateful policies” and “attacks on the rule of law” by President Donald Trump and U.S. Attorney General William Barr.

“I’ve said this on TV and I’ll probably say it again many times,” she told The Journal News/lohud. “We have a criminal in the White House right now. We have a corrupt head of the Department of Justice.”

Rocah, who served as assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York from 2001-18, said federal policies are having a direct effect on the state and local level today.

In November 1993, Pirro was elected Westchester County District Attorney; she was the first woman to hold that position. She was re-elected in 1997 and 2001
