Yesterday, a guy I knew in high school -- who worked as a union carpenter with my cousin, and who is a member of the Trump cult -- posted on FB that his best friend had died from the virus. I think it has shaken his belief in Trump. It's sad that it took this to open his eyes.

One of our close friends also returned with her son - they were stuck in Miami for three months while she was being treated for cancer.
Sadly her prognosis is real bad but we're all glad she's home.

she is home now. Sorry that she has a bad prognosis. Last weekend, my son took me to see some Native friends, to do ceremony for another old buddy who is doing poorly. I think that we are going to get together again soon, and so we will be sending Positive Vibrations to Jamaica.

2020 has been a tough year. I've had too many friends die. The current social-political environment seems to make that and many other hardships worse. That's why I enjoy ceremony and gardening. Plucking a few weeds while on break today .....they are a constant reminder that the Earth is alive, which I love to see.

Also: I learned yesterday that a Good Friend had a baby Saturday, while we were in the lodge. (Not her, of course, though she's done ceremony with us for years. She told me she thought that was a good birthday, knowing it was mine!)

They've been convinced that hospitals are getting extra cash for calling deaths COVID related, even if they're not.
I managed to convince one of them that such a thing is nonsense. The insurance companies just won't do it.
And there's nothing in the stimulus bill to reimburse hospitals beyond actual cost of treatment if swamped by COVID patients.
He actually took my ridicule of Faux seriously. I told him to read the bill provisions for himself, and send an email to his own health insurance company asking if they're doing that.
Surprisingly, he admitted he should have looked up the details for himself.

The past few weeks she was having some serious health issues. She was in the emergency room then had to go back in for an outpatient procedure. She said the doctors and nurses weren't wearing masks. Prior to the procedure she had to go to an urgent care clinic to be tested for Covid-19. She said nobody there were wearing masks. I said then how do you explain the nurses and doctors on the news talking about how they wear masks all day in the hospitals. Her answer...you guessed it...they are all actors. This is a woman who retired from working in a hospital lab less than two years ago.
