UPDATED : Reade is in the shit - "Expert Witness" Credentials Are Questioned, So Are Verdicts

Last edited Fri May 22, 2020, 08:14 AM - Edit history (1)

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/21/us/politics/tara-reade-credentials.html

Defense lawyers in California are reviewing criminal cases in which Tara Reade, the former Senate aide who has accused Joseph R. Biden Jr. of sexual assault, served as an expert witness on domestic violence, concerned that she misrepresented her educational credentials in court.

Then known as Alexandra McCabe, Ms. Reade testified as a government witness in Monterey County courts for nearly a decade, describing herself as an expert in the dynamics of domestic violence who had counseled hundreds of victims.

But lawyers who had faced off against her in court began raising questions about the legitimacy of her testimony, and the verdicts that followed, after news reports this week that Antioch University had disputed her claim of receiving a bachelor’s degree from its Seattle campus.

The public defender’s office in Monterey County has begun scrutinizing cases involving Ms. Reade and compiling a list of clients who may have been affected by her testimony, according to Jeremy Dzubay, an assistant public defender in the office.

Roland Soltesz, a criminal defense lawyer, says he believes Ms. Reade’s testimony made a significant difference in the outcome of the 2018 trial of his client Victoria Ramirez. Both Ms. Ramirez and her co-defendant, Jennifer Vasquez, received life sentences for attempted murder, arson and armed robbery.

“People have been convicted based upon this, and that’s wrong,” said Mr. Soltesz, adding that he “could care less about the politics of this whole thing.”

Ms. Reade maintains that she has an undergraduate degree, saying the school has no record of her graduating because of special arrangements put in place to protect her from her ex-husband. She sent The Times a screenshot of a transcript showing her with 35 course credits, her department as “BA Completion” and nothing listed under “date conferred” or “degree conferred.” According to the photo, she entered school on Oct. 2, 2000.
Ms. Reade says she received her degree through the private assistance of the school’s then-president, Tullisse Murdock. She says she never received a diploma or requested one since she was “fast-tracked” to law school.

“The president took it from the registrar and did it herself for complete confidentiality,” she said in an interview.
But Ms. Hamilton, the Antioch spokeswoman, told The Times that it had spoken with Ms. Murdock, and that there was no such special arrangement with Ms. Reade. It takes 180 credits to graduate, and students earn up to a maximum of 45 for life experience or prior studies, according to the school’s website.

.............................

Wow, lying always gets you in the end. That whole thing about hidden program, is bullcrap, she did this thinking she could bullshit her way.

Updated : reade this email chain, she has lied and lied and lied.

An Antioch University spokesperson said in a statement that Reade did not graduate and was never a faculty member. Reade attended Antioch for three academic quarters, in 2000 and part of 2001. (3 quarters, lol, no way did she get a degree in 3 quarters)

POLITICO was also provided a copy of Tara Reade's resume provided to defense lawyers. In it, she listed herself as working at Antioch as an "Ongoing Online Visiting Professor since 2007 for various Student BA packet reviews ...

saying she would "review the final papers w/students via phone and email; provide guidance for final BA
completion online and by email; mentorship and guidance to students completing BA." Antioch says Reade was never a faculty member & worked a total of "few hours" over years...

in the mail department -- to buck it up to legislative staffers (which she claimed to be) who would answer it. She reportedly was fired from that for throwing away documentation that belonged in the files. That'd do it in any office anywhere.

Senator Biden spent little time actually in his very professionally run, woman-friendly DC office and went home after work to his family in Delaware without hitting the social scene. Busy senators like him typically have a staff of several dozen in their own offices run by managers, plus a bunch more high-level specialized professional committee staffers elsewhere. Entry-level clerical employees might get a chance to briefly interact with the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee at the office Christmas party, also typical.

Heck yes, Hayes should follow up with that.

trouble spot. Another episode in her life.

Btw, I believe all the women who accused Clinton turned out when journalists investigated to have been worked on by political agents, who used various techniques like pretending friendship, coaching and sometimes coercion to persuade them to perform as needed. They were typically conservative and of course of poor character, and like this piece of work their stories typically changed dramatically over the years.

Like "AKA Jane Roe" as it turns out, though of course she said she made that group pay her.

We had a case in our neighborhood, GA Bible belt. Within 15 minutes of meeting her for the first time and sitting chatting, she was, astonishingly, trying to drip poison on me, apparently choosing to skip the typical "offer friendship and then be betrayed by" steps to go right to vindictiveness. Her husband of many years believed God sent him to take care of her.

I suspect that either her law degree is not authentic or that she was not able to pass the bar. She is listed on LinkedIn as an "Independent Legal Services Professional."

You Can Go Home, Again

by Catrina Coyle
Summer/Fall 2008

Being a homeless or injured pet is no fun on any day, but thanks to dedicated staff and volunteers at Animal Friends Rescue Project, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties are pretty good places to be rescued.

The Pacific Grove-based rescue group was started 10 years ago by Monica Rua and Kelly and Dave Lehrian, and is now under the leadership of Alexandra McCabe. Since its inception, AFRP has placed more than 11,380 pets in loving homes. Cats, dogs and rabbits that need extra attention are pulled from local animal shelters, treated, cared for in foster homes, and eventually adopted.

McCabe arrived last November from Seattle, where she had finished law school and was working for a domestic violence nonprofit. She calls AFRP her “dream job” as she provides a quick tour of the purple-painted adoption center on Lighthouse Avenue.

But then I found a lawsuit against her:

SOUTHWESTERN LAW SCHOOL VS MCCABE, ALEXANDRA T

If she graduated from a Seattle law school by 2008, why did she end up owing Southwestern Law School enough to be sued over in 2016?

There is a puff piece about her being an alumni from Seattle Law School in their publication (on page 34): https://digitalcommons.law.seattleu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?referer=&httpsredir=1&article=1065&context=thelawyer
She said she also worked for Leon Panetta - I don't believe that has been mentioned in any of the recent articles?

Sure sounds like Law School believed she had a degree from Antioch University.

"Reached for comment by the Weekly, Reade says that the CNN reporting is incorrect, and that the statement from Antioch University is incomplete. She says that her degree from Antioch University in Seattle was conferred under special circumstances by former Chancellor Toni Murdock. Reade had recently changed her identity following the separation from what she describes as a deeply abusive ex-husband. In order to fulfill her graduation requirements Reade says she had to present coursework completed prior to her identity change. Her account is corroborated by an unofficial transcript from the Seattle University School of Law, which lists Antioch University as Reade’s prior degree granting institution."

I knew Toni Murdoch—at least as well as any student. It’s not a big place. And I was pretty well acquainted with their policies. They did take a certain number of outside credits but those numbers don’t add up.

And I have NEVER heard of a domestic violence dispensation. I mean, they do try to accomodate people but they’re an accredited educational institution. They play by a very strict book.
