She got bonafide chops.

(20,136 posts)Not that my choosing has any impact on the eventual VP choice.
I like Susan Rice, but someone brought up her connection with the Benhazi thing and that could pose a problem.
I do like Stacy Abrams, but don't know if she could be a hard hitter up to bat.

(19,908 posts)My concern about Kamala is really down to her not even implosion, but rather her failure to ignite her campaign. She had everything going for her, in my opinion, but just fizzled out.
I do believe that Joe should pick an African American, and while Susan Rice would be outstanding, I too fear that it would breathe life into a faltering Trump campaign, as unjust as that Benghazi bullshit is.
I've thought of Stacey Abrams since last July when there were rumours that she might be in the running, and nothing I've seen since has dissuaded me from the thought that she would be a great VP. The one thing that might be off putting is the fear by the Biden campaign that they need a big name, which is understandable but I think unnecessary.

(15,359 posts)I think she would make a great AG as she has some experience making republicans cry with her questioning.

(6,143 posts)that Harris is from California, a reliable Democratic state and doesnt put any swing states in play? Did you consider that Harris record as a prosecutor might alienate some progressives as well as some African Americans? Did you consider that Harris attacks on Biden in the debates are a GOP attack ad that writes itself? Did you consider winning the election? Or that there are other choices better suited to winning?

(89,182 posts)Large Majority of black people do not have a problem with Harris and it's mainly white men who have been blaming the black women for the problem in the criminal justice system.

(6,143 posts)the choice for VP should be who puts the ticket in the best position to win.

(89,182 posts)because I know the real reason they don't like Harris.

(54,056 posts)Hers are a little too reminiscent of karate chops for my taste, and some of them were directed at Biden, himself. Let her be AG and go after Republicans with the same zeal she used to go after defendants of dubious guilt in California. That way, she can do what she does best, and her less-than-stellar performance in the primaries will not even be an issue in the confirmation hearings.
If we get lucky, maybe Moscow Mitch will even be watching them on TV as a former Senator, watching newly sworn-in Senator Amy McGrath (D-KY) toss Harris the same kind of softball questions that McTurtle used to toss Trump's unqualified hacks. COnsidering the crap McTurtle and his wife pulled during the Trump years, I suspect that as a former Senator, Moscow Mitch might be checking out real estate in Hong Kong or Sochi (at least he and Elaine can afford it).

(11,949 posts)They recreate the Obama coalition which won Florida twice.
If we energize the African American vote like we did in 08 and 12 we win hands down.

(10,848 posts)She reminds me a bit of Obama in that respect.
She also can be tough, but remain likeable. Not easy. I think she'd balance out the ticket well and be a great attack dog.

'Balance'. 👍

(3,624 posts)yet was a good pick for Obama because he provided age/racial/demographic balance and was a loyal defender - exactly what Kamala can be for Biden.
The other picks, including some of the other WoC, are too straight-laced IMO to handle what Trump is going to dish out.
Kamala is a California girl who knows how to be nice but also knows how to 'throw down'... also spunky with a good sense of humor... all important traits for dealing with Trump/RW nastiness.
