Meghan McCain Warns Biden: Don't Make My Father's Sarah Palin Mistake

The hosts of The View spent Friday morning giving Joe Biden some advice as he starts his search for what he has promised will be a female running mate. Meghan McCain had just one big warning: Don’t make the same mistake her father made in 2008.

Biden has been holding virtual live stream events with prospective VP picks, which Whoopi Goldberg fretted might look like a “reality show” competition. McCain explained that she is personally not a big fan of “chemistry tests.”

“Not to make this about me, but when I was originally offered the job on this show, they wanted to test me with a bunch of the ladies and I said, ‘No, you see what I can do,’” McCain revealed. As she explained it, she again refused to do a chemistry test a few years later and they hired her anyway. “I think vice presidential picks are the exact same way.”

She continued, “My father—and I know people get very triggered when I talk about him, so just bear with me—he chose an unorthodox running mate. He chose someone he hadn’t had a lot of experience with. In fact, I believe he only met Sarah Palin twice before announcing her as his vice presidential pick.”

Palin's lack of experience wasn't even the major issue - it was her complete incompetence. She was Dan Quayle if he had been hit on the head a few hundred times. She was dumb.

But I agree that experience is important. Biden is old. So was McCain (actually younger than Biden is now). The VP very well could become the next president. If that's the case, it has to be someone ready one Day One.

I suppose it’s possible that Biden could pick Sarah Palin who was John McCain’s running mate. He hasn’t yet ruled out choosing a Republican.

Maybe this is what Meghan is worried about. Kinda hard to know what’s running around in her little brain.

(somewhat desperately) for a running mate who could make McCain seem less old and curmudgeonly, provide a little glamor, and counter the GOP's old white guy image. With minimal vetting (had they done even a little digging they'd have uncovered a lot of her little scandals and misdeeds as the mayor of Wasilla as well as the governor of Alaska), Steve Schmidt - to his everlasting shame - concluded that because Palin was young, attractive, female and the mother of four children, including a special needs child, she'd be the perfect counterweight to McCain's elderly grump. The alternative at the time seemed to be the milquetoast governor of Minnesota, a clone of the egregious Scott Walker, who had already done his best to turn his state into a cold Alabama and therefore was the perfect GOPer. But he was a boring white guy and they thought they needed more flash. They got that, but with a whole shitload of stupid. I think McCain would have lost if he'd picked Pawlenty, too, but Palin was nothing but a drag on the ticket.

It still amazes me that eight years later Trump won the election because enough people liked the same qualities in him that made Palin such a terrible running mate for McCain.

She lost her father, had one miscarriage, is currently pregnant, and is apparently not well liked at her work place(her stylist & hair dresser for example). I wanted to like her, after seeing her on Rachel's show in 2009, and online then.
But I cannot.

So how are you going to satisfy your curiosity, cuz DU does not know?

attract viewers in the U.S.: reality tv shows, the news in general, all the crap on the Internet, Trump. "The View" without Meghan "both-sides-Obama-did-it-too-MY-FATHER" McCain would be the dreaded "echo chamber" of sane people who agree on facts. Can't have that!
