Ugh, ANOTHER useless, pointless "HERE'S who Biden should pick" article. We need a vacation from this

https://washingtonmonthly.com/2020/05/20/why-biden-should-pick-michelle-obama-as-vp/

Why Biden should pick Michelle Obama.

Why, indeed? She's black, she's popular, she's super-smart and she's perfect. Well, except for one minor detail:

SHE ISN'T INTERESTED.

Or doesn't that account for anything in today's Washington punditry?

What about all the hoopla saying, "when a woman says no, that means NO!" Is that only supposed to refer to reproductive organs, or do women have the right to be taken seriously when they say it about career choices as well? If she changes her mind, I'm sure she'll make no secret of it.

If there is no more of this "it's gonna be......!" for the next month, it'll be too soon.

Maybe you get your jollies seeing them, but it seems every day here is flooded with links and opinions as to why Biden has to pick this woman, or has definitely decided on that person. I think Michelle, Oprah and Queen Latifah have about as much chance as anyone else at this stage. If you are for Dionne Warwick, feel free to plug away.

I don't really pay a whole lot of attention to all the hype about his VP pick, but it is really great publicity for his campaign, especially at a time when Biden can't be out campaigning in person.

Meanwhile, Trump is president, so he gets a whole lot of airtime. Speculation about Biden's VP pick is a good way to offset Trump's domination of the airwaves. It gets people talking about the Democratic nominee, not the fool in the White House.

that Michelle Obama has stated unequivocally that she will never run for office, goes on to say that she's totally got to do it. Why? Are there no other highly qualified people available? Should Biden just ignore her adamant insistence that she's not going to do it, not ever, and pressure her to do something that's a really big deal and would eat up her life? I hope and believe Biden has enough respect for her to leave her alone, enough respect for the other possible running mates to acknowledge their stellar qualifications and choose one of them, and enough disdain for pundits like this numpty to ignore them altogether.

i hope Biden ignores completely ALL the punditry, and just interviews, vets, consults with those whom he trusts most, and makes his choice based upon that.

After all, that strategy worked pretty well for the man who chose him.

It is annoying in the extreme to read or hear about how Michelle would be perfect.

I will be extremely happy once Joe decides and all is settled.

One person I would like to hear about is Pete Buttigieg. Joe has promised him a role in his administration.

It must be an important spot, where his gifts will shine, and where he can shed the "inexperienced" label.

I look forward to this, and I know it won't be soon.

Public sentiment at the convention gave it to Harry Truman - a good pick. A lot can get done with maximum support. [The more liberal Wallace was dropped from the ticket. FDR knew how to get things done].

[Easy to guess there were tons of natterings on who should be the VP on the ticket for months before].

but more focus on the seriousness of the office of the presidency, the role of the federal government. I'm starting to get a "Bubble Boy" vibe from Biden's campaign and it's NOT GOOD. I understand Trump is sucking up all the oxygen in the room but Team Biden needs to be really smart about how they approach this, and Biden needs to be really smart about the words coming out of his mouth...

Biden's team shouldn't lose sight of what the big goal is, and who the nominee for PRESIDENT is. Even if he nominates Jessica Rabbitt for Vice President, it's still Joe Biden who's getting inaugurated in January and picking his cabinet.

in holding the office - this is just an expression of love for President Obama from people thinking she can be another term for him. It's silly. She's her own person and has her own abilities and talents.

I kind of agree it could help him get elected, but he's on track or that anyway. He could pick me for his running mate and still win. (Well he can't pick me because I'm from the state same, but you get the idea).

When someone reminded Cheney he couldn't run for VP because he had his residence in Texas to run Halliburton. SO he moved his paper residence to Wyoming, where he was originally from. So have some relative in Albuquerque magically make you from New Mexico, and voilà--instant eligibility! It's the Republican way!

As for me, my wife has sad no way to me getting a sex-change operation, so I told Biden's team to take me off the list, and give someone else a chance.

I'll give you insight on why I think it should be Veronica Biggins if you want. She's smart, been around, was part of the Clinton White House, knows the people and the ropes, and is a fabulous wit. At 74, she had just as much energy as she did 20 years ago (or, at least, she seems that way), and Frank is great support, too, has no problem taking a back seat when the occasion calls for it. Veronica does shine when the limelight is on her.

She's not in the slightest bit interested, either, but why shouldn't I promote her? Well, for one thing, BECAUSE SHE IS NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT INTERESTED. As far as I'm concerned, and as far as Veronica is concerned, that should be the end of it. I don't see why Michelle Obama should be pestered any further on the subject if she doesn't want to be. It isn't fair to her, to Joe Biden, or to any of the women Biden IS still seriously considering.

If he gave no hint about a decision, then he's as smart as I hope he is.

Good. I don't care if he HAS made a decision and hasn't told anyone. I just don't want it known publicly so that the Republicans have time to start putting together THEIR campaign. I doubt he even knows about how two of his staff let the cat out of the bag with my nephew in 2008, but stuff like that DOES happen.
