And this nightmare would be over.
Maybe someone media / politician could say it.
Maybe?

Have a great weekend Velvet.

(4,845 posts)Hong Kong and a lot of other Asian countries are a good example. 99% of the people wore masks when they are outside since February and they still have new coronavirus cases for months. However, I would definitely take their death toll, they have 4 deaths since February out of about 7-8 millions population. YOU READ IT RIGHT, it's 4 in 4 months.
That tells you how useful wearing a mask is. Though, we live in a country that personal freedom trumps public safety. You would be socially shamed so hard if you go outside without a mask in Asian countries.
My point is simply that masks are really really really important to use but don't mislead people that it will get rid of the virus in 30 days.
And we live in a world that people travels around the world. So unless the whole world is free from the virus, we will continue to see outbreaks everywhere.

(16,138 posts)I suspect their economy will recover much more quickly than ours, with 100,000 fewer deaths before this is over. Or more likely, 200,000 fewer, but Im really pessimistic about the reality-denying inconsiderate American culture.
In japan, if the government says wear masks, a Tokyoite wouldnt dream of going out without one. They are instilled from age 1 onward to be considerate of others.. Its like the prime directive.
