G'night, Twitter. This picture of Ocean City, Maryland today just guts me.

This is one dumb-shit country.

Was very warm Saturday; cooling down tomorrow/today, so crowds will likely be smaller, similar Monday.

Many of them are going to be dying before the year is over. Many of them will watch a family member die because of this little outing. The ones wearing masks will likely be ok if this is all they do.

I really believe most democrats (and ALL of the democrats I know personally) are staying indoors as much as possible, always wearing a mask, and often gloves and/or hand sanitizer or sani-wipes. They're NOT going out into crowds.

It soon will be.

Was just reflecting on that picture. I grew up in proximity with my G'Ma, and thru her, of course, my own mother.
G'Ma raised 8 kids, all but the last one during the depression.Tough woman.
One of the traits she couldn't stand, and this was passed right on down the family line, was stupidity.
Not book learning stupid, but common sense stupid. You could do the occasional stupid thing, like when my uncle was lake fishing with dynamite and blew up his boat,....alcohol was very much involved..
"damn fool ought to know better"

but to do the kind of stupid that most people should know better, esp. sober people, like the pic above, would have her for hours above "god gave a goose more sense", and "what the hells the matter with people, I swear they get dumber every year, don't they have even a little common sense....etc etc"
that sometimes spoiled over to anyone who had voted "wrong".

I can just feel her rotating furiously in her grave.

This damned virus will have its way with all of us, globally.

Sad to say, none of us will go unscathed before this thing simmers down.

I haven't got it 'yet' but fully expect to within the next 2 years.

Fasten your seat belts kids, we're in for a bumpy ride.

to work on strategies to cope with it over the long haul before opening back up. We're opening up now and very little has changed. Mask wearing is more prevalent than it was before the shutdown. Hopefully that will last, it might not. The level of testing and tracing needed to safely open up is completely absent.

A properly federated TTQ will allow people to go about with low enough numbers until a true effective vaccine comes.

5 or 6 are wearing masks in that picture, but I have gotten too far past trying to concern myself whether Americans are smart enough to save themselves.

They aren't, by and large. Or at least a huge number of them aren't, that's for sure.

I tell every sympathetic ear I can that this is far from over, and that complacency will be deadly for another half million Americans, at LEAST.

There was a Loves Truck Stop I went into the other day that had signs on the door declaring that the county REQUIRED the wearing of masks to enter, and they were enforcing that.

How many of the 10 or so customers in that store were wearing masks, do you think?

If you guessed 6 or more, you would be wrong. So they weren't really enforcing it at all! Another truck stop I visited in West Texas pulled the "Social Distancing" stickers off the floor last week!

If you can not see it out your front door, it isn't happening, seems to have become the mindset. No one I know has died, so fuckit.

You have to love the defensive position "WELL! NOW they're saying that you don't have to...or You Can't catch it if.........blah blah blah, as if evolving scientific opinion on particular aspects of this means the scientists don't have any clue AT ALL!

I'm pretty sure I said this on a post in the last month or two, but when all is said and done, it will be over a half million dead from this, because too many Americans are fucking morons.
