7. True story malaise:

I was tearing down a retainer wall Wednesday in my front yard. It was made with architectural concrete blocks. You know, with three holes in each one. They were stacked about four high. As I got down to the last row a bunch of mice started running from their nest in one block to other blocks through tunnels below them. I grabbed a stick and started jamming it down into the holes trying to smash each one and with some success. I usually don’t find joy in killing anything but I think somewhere in my psyche each one represented the vile one and a rage in me took over until I smashed every one I could find. I thought I had them all but a few minutes later another one tried to make a run for it from the nest! I grabbed my shovel and sliced his head off in between blocks!

Not sure if the vile one has finally driven me to madness but it sure as hell felt cathardic!
