General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am certain this will mark me as senile in the minds of some, but now and then,
playing certain BEATLES tunes just seems to take all the wind out of my sails. I've just stopped what I was doing to listen to George's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and the enormity of what has been pissed away between the first time I heard that song and now settled over me like a shroud.
I think my weekend will be a somber one.
Carry on.

(922 posts)Is made up entirely of demos. While my guitar gently weeps is stripped down to George on acoustic with Paul on organ. Hauntingly beautiful.

(14,558 posts)I know we're living in a time where truth is no longer truth, the middle class has been hunted nearly to extinction and we are being governed by the worst, most immoral, most incompetent people who are raping the treasury this one last time, to leave us cringing while the billionaire parasite gobble up the last of what once made our republic great.
But, the sun will rise tomorrow, and today the wind is shaking the leaves on the trees and the air smells clean and fresh!
There's an election coming, and it is darkest before the dawn. Yeah, I know that's a cliche...
By the way, I do enjoy your posts - please keep them coming but don't allow yourself to get so depressed. That's what they want. They want us to curl up in despair and give up. Well, we're not doing that! Because we outnumber them, and they are afraid.

(19,182 posts)My two favorites. He was going through a very dark time in his life then, soon to get darker. My life experiences and his seemed to coincide at that point in time. We both came through it alright, though.
'Wonderful Tonight' also brings back some remarkable memories as well. Ahhhh.....life. Melancholy does set in at times, doesn't it? But this too shall pass.

(60,071 posts)[Think of those youve loved and those who love you. If you have even just one Love, your life is not wasted no matter how it faded, changed, or ended. If it has persisted, count yourself a fortunate soul.
If the Negative feelings persist find someone to talk to. Zoloft is not defeat.
Carry On.

(19,182 posts)I played the entire 'White Album' last night with the headphones on and I swear I heard things I never heard before. It's been a long damned time since I was a 14 year old kid watching The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan show with my older (now deceased) sister. Still, I look forward. Always forward.

There's a Beatle song for every stage of my life.
Depending on the recording, I can burst out in a laugh, remember fond memories, or sob a few tears.
I truly do appreciate your posting this thread.
