for "violating community standards." Before you start bashing facebook, please don't. I use it for cat rescue. All of the cat rescues in my area use it for communication. If you don't like facebook, that's is fine with me. I can only imagine why my account was disabled. Recently, I rescued a mama cat and her 6 kittens from a BBQ restaurant. I was able to get them accepted by a rescue group. I named her Persia. When we started calling in pledges for this little family, there were problems with Paypal blocking the payment, and the rescue group had to contact Paypal to finally get everything straightened out. Last week, we had two adult female cats that needed help. One was a siamese, the other was a pregnant tabby. I named the siamese cat "Isis" and the tabby cat "Ivy." Isis got adopted, and we were able to get Ivy into a rescue. Today, my FB account was disabled. Now, I am kicking myself for not realizing the connection. I named a cat after an Egyptian goddess and FB thinks I'm a recruiter for a terrorist group and am trying to raise funds for Isis. I hope the FBI doesn't show up on my doorstep tomorrow. Now, I can't monitor the pledge roundups for the cats that need help or stay connected with the people I work with in rescue.
FB doesn't have any kind of customer support. I did request a review through their idiotic "help" page, but got a message that said "due to Covid 19 we might not be able to help.
smh
hope you get it worked out

(7,498 posts)was informed post had been removed as hateful. I appealed asking to look at the context. They said it would take a while because of C 19 2 weeks later I was informed I was suspended for 24 hours. Gave me time to think of more anti Trump stuff. So it was worth it.

(7,557 posts)For the time being, could you create a new FB account with a different email account? If you created a new account with a similar name, this might ensure that you stay in contact with your rescue group.
I hope it all works out for you, Japple.

(9,808 posts)flagged. I have a gmail account that I use for my general email and a yahoo junk email that I use for a recovery account. I have tried adding the yahoo with a dummy fb account, but I keep getting the same message about my situation:
"Thank you for sending your information.
"We have fewer people available to review information due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This means we may be unable to review your account.
We apologize for any inconvenience."

(3,121 posts)...Yet found the time and resources to suspend you for typing the name of the Egyptian Goddess of love a name immortalized in Mozarts The Magic Flute. and known the world over.
That level of stupidity cant be blamed on the algorithm.

(3,169 posts)Those notifications are often spam with a link malware. If you don't have a good anti-virus program and haven't made any security updates to your system recently, I would strongly encourage doing the updates and protecting your system.
If you did click on the link and supply any login credentials, you should make sure you still have control of ALL your linked accounts. Change the passwords on all of them. NOW.

(9,808 posts)I got out of FB jail. I wasn't given any kind of explanation, but my account was unfrozen this afternoon. I am back on call, trying to help cats in distress. FWIW, I received a message from a local person who needed help with 3 baby kittens over the weekend. By the time she reached out to me, one of the babies had died. I am still trying to find out what happened. I hope she was able to connect with someone in rescue who could help these kittens.

(4,986 posts)I requested a review, and they had to verify my account with my cell number, and then immediately let me back in. I think it was either a glitch, or they are verifying cell numbers. There's no way I could be disabled for violating "community standards." My posts on there are about as plain vanilla as you can get!

(15,334 posts)Why would you name it that? No one is gonna think Egyptian goddess, they are all gonna think terrorist. The swastika is an ancient Indian symbol. However, after what Hitler did to it, it can never be worn positively again.

(15,933 posts)Who would name a terrorist group Isis? This should be asked, Why would a terrorist group call themselves Isis after an Egyptian Goddess?
Polybius
(15,334 posts)I know you had zero bad intentions, but when people hear "Isis" 99% of them are gonna think terrorist.
I'm interested to read about that Egyptian goddess. I would love to search for her, but I'm kinda afraid to put that in my search bar.

(15,933 posts)I'll give you a short history from wiki.
Isis was a major goddess in ancient Egyptian religion whose worship spread throughout the Greco-Roman world. Isis was first mentioned in the Old Kingdom (c. 26862181 BCE) as one of the main characters of the Osiris myth, in which she resurrects her slain husband, the divine king Osiris, and produces and protects his heir, Horus. She was believed to help the dead enter the afterlife as she had helped Osiris, and she was considered the divine mother of the pharaoh, who was likened to Horus. Her maternal aid was invoked in healing spells to benefit ordinary people. Originally, she played a limited role in royal rituals and temple rites, although she was more prominent in funerary practices and magical texts. She was usually portrayed in art as a human woman wearing a throne-like hieroglyph on her head. During the New Kingdom (c. 15501070 BCE), as she took on traits that originally belonged to Hathor, the preeminent goddess of earlier times, Isis was portrayed wearing Hathor's headdress: a sun disk between the horns of a cow.
In the first millennium BCE, Osiris and Isis became the most widely worshipped Egyptian deities, and Isis absorbed traits from many other goddesses. Rulers in Egypt and its neighbor to the south, Nubia, built temples dedicated primarily to Isis, and her temple at Philae was a religious center for Egyptians and Nubians alike. Her reputed magical power was greater than that of all other gods, and she was said to protect the kingdom from its enemies, govern the skies and the natural world, and have power over fate itself.

(15,933 posts)Now you're gonna have to be mindful of how you name the rescues. It's gonna take more brain cells to think about all the ways that we have to be extra mindful of these things. Definitely not fair.
