Spending Memorial Day cleaning out a storage unit

with my son that I've had since 1997.

Only good thing that has come from my self quarantine is free time.

Town opening swap meet next weekend and have a crap load of stuff that belonged to myself, my sister, and my mother who passed in 2003 to take out and sell.

10 x 20 unit. Should be finished by Friday. Some stuff from 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Wish me luck...

My 98 yr old mom has (finally) moved near me. We were 700 miles apart. I am her only surviving child.

Her house just sold, and my husband and I spent a week sorting thru 57 years of accumulation. She is not a hoarder, but did have a hell of a lot of stuff. Up in the attic above the garage, there were newspapers talking about the Korean War.

It was exhausting.

Quite a bit of it probably could have been donated, except all the places that accept donations are not open right now due to the COVID-19 limitations.

Also, my husband questioned every item I set aside to think about and decide on. He would have thrown everything away, because nothing had any emotional history for him.

And my son and I will be using n95 masks and sanitizer. Any money will also be sanitized.

Have a heavy can for them to throw money into. Most stuff will only be a buck or so. Thousands of items.

Just kidding.

Purging is so freeing. Like getting our haircut after this or getting a manicure.
Feels like you lost weight or something..

Plus you might make a buck. Can’t believe how much we made auctioning off our purge.

Good luck. Let us know how you do.

Since you are a DUer I trust you know what’s best.
