White guy goes on kidnapping/murder-spree. Police: "We know this is not who you are."

https://m.dailykos.com/stories/1947942

White college kid kills 2 people in cold blood, kidnaps 1.
Steals car and guns.
Currently at large. Armed and dangerous. Multi-state manhunt going on.

And what public statements is the police putting out?

"Please turn yourself in. We know this is not you. We just want to end this peacefully. Pleeeeeeeease."

100 Bucks that the cops won't even put a scratch on him when they arrest him.

(CNN)A suspect in two killings and a kidnapping in Connecticut has been arrested in Maryland after a six-day manhunt, authorities said.

Peter Manfredonia, 23,was taken into custody Wednesday evening in Hagerstown, Maryland, Connecticut State Police tweeted.

He was located in the woods by a gas station and was taken into custody without incident, a law enforcement official told CNN. As they arrested Manfredonia, police found a firearm they believe to be a murder weapon, Trooper Christine Jeltema said at a news briefing.
"No injuries to any law enforcement personnel or Manfredonia," the tweet said. Police said more information would be provided Thursday.

He had mental issues, so anything that might get the scumbag into custody is fine with me.

Michael Dolan, an attorney representing the Manfredonia family, said that Mr. Manfredonia has struggled with mental health issues for several years and had worked with a number of therapists.

probably suggested by the FBI to open a channel of communication with a dangerous person in some kind of negotiation or to try to get a confession by suggesting to the perpetrator that investigators want to hear 'their side of the story" and telling them what they did was "out of character", etc.. You shut off any possibility of surrender or communication if you really tell them what you're thinking ("turn yourself in you psychopath!&quot . It's been used a lot including on Christopher Dorner (African American) when the LAPD tried to stop his killing spree by telling him he was right to be angry and had legitimate grievances and to surrender so they could be addressed. It's really quite common.

It's intended for the perpetrator. It's intended to appeal to whatever psych profile they have determined about him.

I suppose they could say "hey you piece of shit, turn yourself in and we will beat you senseless, then you rot in prison for 20 years until they execute you".

But that probably won't generate the behavior they are trying to induce.

That they didn't beat the living shit out of him when they caught him.

That they didn't pin his head to the ground with their knee.

That they didn't "accidentally" shoot and kill him and pretend that he was armed and threatening and they had no choice.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a black community, we have seen that police treat perpetrators differently depending on color. This man, who killed people, is treated with respect, arrested "peacefully", with no violence.
In contrast, a black man was asphyxiated for running a red light and is now dead.
Are you really not seeing it?
with white privileges even when he is a murder , if a black man goes on a killing spree they will hunt him and kill him right at the moment of arrest no FBI mental profile need it .
Now I am not saying that they would treat a black man the same way. Just noting that this statement was crafted that way for a reason, not because that is what they actually think.
To try to stop more killing. It doesn't work with most of them, but it does on occasion.
It has nothing to do with the murderer being white.
