(16,829 posts)It doesn't mean you're immune, and it doesn't mean you're contagious.

(32,333 posts)Senator Kaine is saying that he and his wife had the flu in January. Then they got something else that they thought was flu again, or maybe it was Covid-19. I guess we'll never know since the Senator and his wife weren't tested for Covid-19.
Now the "antibodies" test says they do have immunity of some kind. Does that mean they actually had Coronavirus? Maybe - nobody knows, the tests could be flawed. But the government is counting these tests anyway because it fits their agenda nicely.

(86,040 posts)It does not.
The Senator even says so in the letter. There is no certainty that antibodies mean any kind of immunity with this virus. And the tests have shown to be unreliable so there is no certainty of anything other than they probably had it during one of those episodes of illness... if the antigen test is to be trusted. Given the anecdotal evidence, they probably had it the second time around. Let's hope that if they did have it, it was only once. If they had it twice, there will be no escape for our species.

(3,218 posts)Which test(s) were they given? The previous SARS corona virus in 2003 can give us some hope that antibodies mean immunity for some time. We just dont know enough about this virus. But, if I am given a reliable antibody test and it proves positive, it will certainly make me a little less stressed out.

Why is that so hard in the "greatest country in the history of the world"?
